Does anyone know much about the NNHS? I have qualified to be a member and I am not sure if it is worth it or not. I heard you have to pay dues, I am not sure how much. Just wondering if this would be a good move for the resume and if it would help my career? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Sorry, but it will make absolutely no difference, only money that you have spent.

Never heard of that one.

Although I am not a nurse, I keep getting phony letters for the nationals dean's list blah blah blah. Come to find out they only want to suck me into paying dues and buying a book. The staff at school said, don't bother.
I'd be suspicious of anything that involved forking cash.
Good luck to you.

Never heard of it. Check your college to see if there are other honor societies.

Are you referring to Sigma Theta Tau? If so, I recommend joining. I love the quarterly journal that is sent out and the updates that are sent via e-mail. Great networking opportunities.
Yes, Sigma Theta Tau is the biggie. But be aware, unless you are a bachelor's degree graduate or student, you are not eligible.
Yes, it is Sigma theta Tau. It is actually the Pi Epsilon chapter in for the school that I go to. I am a BSN and in the top 33% of my class so I do qualify. Are the dues expensive? If so, if anyone is a member, what will I get out of it?

I just paid $75.00 to renew my membership. I have not worked anywhere that paid me more directly, but it did count toward the clinical ladder, which was more money. If you go into education or regulation, it can help. As another poster said, the networking opportunities are tremendous. There are a couple of publications that I receive from them - one is a research journal, and the other is more general nursing interest. You can be as involved with the organization as you'd like to be. I guess it's like anything else - you get out of it what you put into it.

I have an application sitting beside me right now for a very competitive critical care internship. One of the essay questions I have to answer..."honors and awards". If you're offered entry into Sigma Theta Tau, scrape up the money and accept. You never know what kind of program you'll be "dying to get into" at graduation time and beyond!
Best of luck
