I also like breaking the stereotype. Patients appreciate the manly approach, my coworkers like that I'm a workhorse, and I never, ever cry, except that one time my tablesaw ate my thumb...

No way!?...I have had Female patients tell of how they "had this great male nurse..." But NEVER have I even heard of a female "asking" for a male nurse. HAD TO Bed a one time cosmic event...:-)
On the other side of the coin, being one of the few males in a psych unit means that you get the "privilege" of taking down and/or restraining agitated or violent patients. I know this isn't universal, but it seems common. However, it can make you feel kind of heroic if you have an ego.
