ohio: started in north carolina in 1980. 6.10 hr. 30 bed step down unit. after many, many years of critical care / er / trauma, 37.50 base, 0.50 hr for CCRN ,4.25 shift dif/ weekend diff as well. Not sure what new grads make in ohio. Found the pay rate varies tremendosly from city to city.

New nurses where I work make $21.80/hour in Georgia. I have more than 20 years experience, won't mention my salary or workplace here. When I was a new nurse, I started out making $8.85/hour.

So....you are saying that publicly talking about salaries or wages will influence how much you can or will earn?

In Jackson, Mississippi the base salary for new grads is $18.50 per hour.

I am familiar with this area and there is no way you can buy a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath house for less than $100,000. It would be tough buying one for less than $200,000. Also, property taxes are high, about $5,000/yr for a $250,000 house. You must be talking about the surrounding small towns when you are talking about a house price of $100,000

I work at another hospital in Madison and new grads start at 24/hr plus 2$ and hour more if you work in a hospital versus a clinic. 3$ extra per hour for weekend hours and 2.5/hr extra for hours worked after 5pm.

*** Yes I was talking about some of the small town around Madison. We sold our house in Saulk county (25 min drive to the hospital) in 2006 for under $100K. 1920 square feet, 3 br, 2 ba, 2 acres, 1 car garage. Plenty more around like it.

I live in California. I think starting wage is 25-26 /hr. Not sure what it tops out at... I average 100 000 grandish and Im in the middle of the scale. Additional monetary incetives are given for an advanced degree, belonging to committees, doing research, recruiting nurses, and we have double overtime... Its nice. Keep in mind, cost of living is high in California..

I am amazed at how low some of these wages are considering the cost of living. We are all making bout the same (new grad pay) yet, I live in a very affordable area.....just doesnt make sense.
