I am so upset!

My awesome Master Cardiology stethoscope which i LOVE totally got stolen or accidentally thrown out today at work...either someone took it or I think it might have gotten mixed in with dirty linens or garbage and thrown out :(

I looked around for over 6 hours in a million rooms on my unit and could not find it...nor can I remember where I had it when I put it down. :o

If it doesn't show up at work soon I guess I will have to buy another one....I am thinking of buying another MC or maybe even the Cardiology III which is slightly cheaper and apparently is still good

My cardio III walked around the unit for a few days..until I saw it...around a much hated doctors neck.

I asked her if she could read, and if so why the stechoscope with "jessie" in big red letters was around her neck.

I love my cardiology III and I had my name engraved into the medal so no one could rip off a name tag and claim it as their own :)

You know what happened to my Littman?

I was walking outside, checking on things around the property, walked around the barn and found it, halfway buried in dried mud.

I could have thrown a fit and jumped all over the children, but it was too late to do any good now. I didn't tell my husband about it for that reason. I just kept quiet about it, but at the same time I was like...EEEEKKKK!!!!

I'm using the old sprague I bought when I took my CNA class over 11 yrs. ago. Too bad the kids didn't find that one to play with first!

I had a nice littman but i found a cardiology stethoscope just as good as a littman and it was 25 bucks. I got it at Allheart.com and it was an allheart stethoscope.

I have warned about the infamous living stethescope. It grows legs and can move faster than reptiles. Not counting the ones who pick them up thinking they will just borrow it and never return it or just blatently walk out with it around their neck. But it does take a real reptile to come back into the facility with it hanging around their neck like it was theirs. But ok,, maybe they were going to return it because they realized they forgot to give it back,, right!!!

I once slammed a Cardiology III in the side door of an ambulance. I'm talented... what can I say?

Has anyone checked out ADC stethoscopes as a cheaper alternative to Littmann? Might make the sting a little bit less if it did disappear.

....which is EXACTLY why I was advised not to spend the money on one...because it's only a matter of time before it disappears.

I also heard that "cool" colors are also more likely to disappear than a boring grey or black.

Please tell me they gave it back to you...

Mine broke at the tubing. Stupidly, I kept it in the car. The hot Florida sun did the rest. $210.

I bought another. Which also broke. The ring around the bell ripped, I have no idea how. $160.

So I bought another. This one seems to be The One. I have my name on it in pink Sharpie and I just got a cute little beaded bracelet with my name on it. *$180.

I didn't think much of these outlays because when I was younger, my family nicknamed me "The Destroyer of Equipment."

Don't ask....

At least we can all take comfort in that tax deduction for equipment and supplies. ;)

The same has happened to mine, I tend not to take care of it well, but they last a few years. Do you have Littmann? If you do, you can send it back to the company, they'll refurbish it for you, clean it, put new tubing, the works. Depending on what kind you have it costs roughly $60 to $85 dollars or so, and they do a great job! Just go to the Litmann website.
