My Favorite Pen Has Been Banned! Help!!!!

Published

Other than needing immediate withdrawal assistance from no longer being able to use my FAVORITE Pilot fine point gel ink pen on nursing notes, what do I do now?

I bought a Zebra 301 ball point pen, but the ink stopped flowing in the middle of a word in a nursing note. It feels like writing with a thin copper water pipe.

I need a pen that has the sweet feel of a Sarasa 7.0, the warmth of a Pilot G-2 or G-3. I threw the four dollars worth of Pilot Better Retractables out of the window on route 53.

My PENS have been banned due to their bleeding when a spot of moisture casts the pain of blotching on their legal documents.

Forget XANAX etc, what I need is a pen that won't bleed when hit with water. Help?!!

I like the free pens we get from the organ donation center or the eye bank. They're triangle shaped, black, and always write wonderfully. Weird, I know.

I also agree with the Sharpie fine point. It won't bleed when wet but I use the one with the cap. I always click the pen out when it is in my pocket:( (I got black ink on my all white scrubs. very bad) And yes you will have to threaten the co workers to stab them with a crappy one if they attempt to steal yours. jk

I did that with a retractable highlighter once but I had it on my name tag lanyard. I very nicely highlighted my left boob and when I say highlighted I mean multiple HUGE circles on my white T-shirt.

I agree that the Papermate Profiles are AWESOME pens!!! I don't do nursing notes w/out them! I have extras in my locker! :)

I'll respond when I stop hyperventilating. Don't they know, they can't mess with our pens!

I like the Papermate Softgrips with antimicrobial covering--they write very smooth. I also like the Papermate Gforce but they are pricey and heavy in my pocket. I picked up a bunch of the softgrips in breast cancer pink and people seem to stay away from those or remember they belonged to me.

the sharpie pens are the absolute BEST!

Sharpie pens don't bleed through papers and don't smear when wet. Although I don't take kindly to fine point pens..I much prefer a medium point, and Sharpie only comes in fine point :crying2:. So I suck it up and only use it on narc book pages and documents that will be put in the chart. My roster and other things I use my other fav pen.

Wow,...I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that gets a bit obsessed about pens,...when we went to computer charting it was like loosing a long time love. :crying2:

I also love the sharpie pens. I have had them bust on me in class though - they're kind of fragile.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Pain, End of Life Care.

Uni has a new gel pen that is for "check cashing protection" and i love it. plus it comes in nice pastel colors. 3 for about $4 ... otherwise the Crystal Bic pens work good for me....10 for $1, I pass them out to my fellow nurses and they always have a big thank you for me.

i don't like to get too fancy with pens. i don't know what mine are called. they are just the bic ones that are see through hard plastic. black ink. love 'em! plus i have a gross habit of chewing on the ends of my pens. those stop me because they are too hard of plastic to chew. :)
