Ok. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Walking along in your Crocs and you suddenly hit the front of your shoe against the floor causing you to trip.
It appears to me that the material Crocs are made from are AbSoLuteLy skid proof to a fault! They don't skid, they Stop you in your tracks.
Now this evening while I was taking a chart to the Unit clerk with orders, my foot suddenly stopped and I fell straight to the floor. I laid there for a min then laughed with embarrassment..but then staff came to me to help me up. My Crocs did it!
Its been a problem for awhile now and I'm finally taking the time to post here about it. I even thought about doing a hospital wide survey to see if others have the same problem. One of the Techs with me tonight said she has the very same problem...
SO. Do your Crocs make you trip???
i believe i've seen another poster call that the "croc stop". i can't tell you how many times i have tripped over my own feet wearing my crocs - i thought it was just me until i watched two other rns do the same during the same shift. i haven't caused myself any serious injury, other than maybe some mild embarrassment, but i may have just been lucky enough not to have a serious fall.i recently purchased a pair of dansko clogs - no tripping anymore. not as comfy as my crocs, but no tripping...
far better arch supports, though. better for your feet, knees and back -- and no tripping!
I had a double play the other day! Did the croc stop just outside a room, was recovering, and then the other foot hit a wet patch on the floor. I flew into the room on my hands and knees, thanking my lucky stars there was no patient in there to witness my coordination!(I'm convinced one of my legs is longer than the other)
Ya know, I have always had 2 left feet. But once I got into nursing school I got that illness "nursing student-itis" and thought I had a neuro-muscular disorder or somethign when I continued to trip. That put some needless fear into me! LOL:roll
I have had a croc stop and tripping before, and it is because I drag my feet. I had to do a treadmill stress test at my cardiologist and he had me do it barefoot because all I brought were my crocs and he was afraid I'd trip. But I digress, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE CROCS and will not give them up for a little tripping. I just ordered the new specialist vent ones from their website. They have better arch support. I just love Crocs, and would be heartbroken and probably a rule-breaker if my hospital banned them.
Echoing this post, I've tripped over my own feet in every kind of shoe I've ever owned. My conclusion is that it's not the shoes - at least in my case.

:yeahthat: Ditto! -- I trip over my own two feet, even if I am bare footed, so yes, I have stumbled (not fallen) in my Crocks, and also in my Red Wing Worx shoes, which are made for people who work on their feet all day (marketed mostly to wait-staff) as well as every other type shoe I have owned.
Since going to Crocks I can't imagine a 12 1/2 hour shift without them!
