My client's Christian parents figure out that I'm Christian

When my client's parents are Christian, they figure out pretty quickly that I am also a Christian. I actually am not sure how this works; I don't speak 'King James', nor do I go in stating that I'm a Christian. A client has the right to keep his religion to himself, and I don't bring up the subject.

Do any of you have the same experience?

70% of Americans identify as Christian, even if you provide 0 clues they have a very good chance guessing you are.

Just like other personal issues like sexuality, sexual orientation, political beliefs, etc. Ignore, defer, or tell them you prefer to keep it professional, handle it the way you want.

I've had lost of patients and families "figure out" that I'm Christian...I'm atheist.

Same, I'm Jewish and I have plenty of patients and families who assume I'm Christian and ask me where I go to church, what my favorite bible verse is, etc.

Why do you care if they know you're a Christian? Especially if they're Christian too? Many Christians are proud when people can identify them by their actions and not their words.

I've been identified by patients and families as Christian many times. I'm not.

I am not surprised. A lot of communication is non-verbal and one can say quite a bit even when saying nothing.

Yes, this is an assumption. When they bring it up they are also trying to confirm their assumption.

I'm fine with the fact that they know I'm Christian. I was just curious whether other Christians encounter the same thing. And from these other posts, I see that people who aren't Christian get the same response.

Colosians 3:12-13 "... clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone ...."

You don't have to be a Christian to do these things.

It's the lingo, I guarantee it. You don't even realize you're doing it. When I was a regular church-goer I spoke it too.
