thanks,

Coming from someone that went to a private school YES that is wayyy to much you are paying for no wait list but with that said(& I speak from experience) you are also paying for it all to be crammed into such a short time and having everything pushed as quickly as possible into your brain.
All I can say is IF You do decide to go to this school dont plan on working when you are in school....there will be no way possible to do it & also prepare your family & friends that you will not be there for them. It may sound harass but it is true.
A lot of people make the mistake of trying to work when they go to nursing schools and even more so private ones becuase they honestly cant afford there outrageous cost but you just cant work it is too intense
Good luck and defintly look around
i live in nyc and i'll be starting lpn classes on sept 4th. the program i'm in is free! i'm taking classes in the hospital. it's run by the department of education under adult and continuing education. there are also other LPN programs from doe and only cost about 2,000. you should definitly try looking at these type of programs. good luck!
Depending on which state you live in that is the normal price range for a private LVN program. In Northern CA: Unitek is around $30K, Gurnick is $22K, WCC is $42K and others fall somewhere in between. These are businesses and charge really what people are willing to pay. CC (charge around $3K to $6K) are so impacted that people will pay for private school programs because many people really want to become nurses. Private schools offer the easy admission process, no wait list, and all inclusive pricing. In the time you wait on the list for CC you could already be graduated and working from a private college. I myself am in this same situation but will have a few years decide since I need to wait until my son is in school to pursue my education.
People in this situation should decide if the cost of private school is worth it partly based on the economy of the area they live in. Will they be able to find a good paying job quickly to pay off the large tuition? Its a tough choice
WOW, that is a lot!! Where are you located? Is this a private institution? I would say that depends on where you are and private institutions are more expensive, but I've never heard of nursing school tuition to be that high! I'm in San Antonio, TX, and the highest I've seen is about $17K (for LVN), and I thought that was too much. There are actually a couple of other school here that are a cheaper. This is an older thread, so I hope you have found another school that is cheaper than that by now! (Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in anway.)
We(hubby and I ) are actually moving to attend a private RN program that will be around 20k for a 10 month program but the cost of living is so low (375 a mo for a 1/1 with utilities and cable incl) that we will be able to live on savings and working 2 shifts a week each for the duration. Nothing wrong with a temporary relocation if you can swing it.

I am in the Bay Area, and the CC everywhere around here are terribly impacted! So I have chosen the Private School route. Yes, the admission process was awfully easy but even my school is charging $25k, when my younger sister graduated there last year they were only charging $22k! I have been blessed with an amazing mother (RN of almost 30) who is taking care of the tuition and has many connections at various hospitals when I graduate. Completely worth it.
I also had to wait until my son was older (he's in preschool now) so that I could attend school. I'll be starting my program in November and can't wait
