Mt. SAC application for spring 2016

Published

Hi everyone !!! After 5 years I finally decided to pick up where I left off. Time to apply for nursing school :D

Application period is July 1st - September 1st. I'm coming in with 54 points pre-HESI. Just wanted to wish anyone else out there applying to Mt. SAC good luck with the HESI tomorrow ;)

I have yet to see a thread on this particular application period for Mt. SAC so I hope many more join this thread as we proceed with this tedious journey.

Thank you for every answer ! Certainly appreciate your input . Actually Pomona, chino, and San antonio are closer to my neck of the woods thank God. How often did you go to those 3 or was it dependent on whether you picked them. Mt SAC is looking pretty good :sneaky:

Well, it's basically your preference if you have earlier registration. After 1st semester, I wanted 12 hour shift clinicals so I picked clinical sites that were 12 hours (and of course clinical instructors who've I was told was really good). I've been at Chino, Pomona, and Inter-Community and had a great 2 years with great instructors as well as nurses.

oops double post.

Barcode, thank you so much for the info. I really appreciate the time you're taking to answer our eager questions! I'll be sure to do the same if, I mean when, I finish nursing school. So, another question hehe. Can you choose whether you have 8 or 12 hour clinicals?

Can you choose whether you have 8 or 12 hour clinicals?

Clinical hours are set and based on the clinical site. So, unfortunately, you cannot pick a clinical site and then pick your 8 or 12 hour shifts.

I know we have said it so many times, but thanks barcode. Your experience is a welcomed fountain of knowledge.

No problem. I was once in your guys' shoes 3 years ago but never really got clarification until the program actually started. I like browsing AN forums on my spare time, keeps me busy when I'm not working haha.

Hello! Just found this post and wanted to connect with fellow students applying for Spring '16. I'm happy to say that I had my counselor appointment and I'm pretty much in. Mid November and early January cannot come soon enough!

How many points did you have??

I have 89, but my friend who saw her counselor today got in and she has 76 she ranked #44

Do any of you happen to know what text book is needed for NURS 1a and 1B?

Congrats on getting in carm! I'm not sure if the books for spring will be the same for the cohort that started this fall. Go to bookstore.mtsac.edu and select nursing 1A. There you will see the required and recommended books for fall 2015. The Spring 2016 book list will probably be up in January or maybe we will get a list in orientation.

Thanks, Natalie! That's what I figured, just was confused with the box of books option and stuff. I would really like to get ahead on my reading, but don't want to buy anything until orientation.
