U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi all arizona nurses :)

Thought I would introduce myself I am at present a UK RN but am in the process of moving to USA, Phoenix Arizona to be more precise. Had an interview with St Joesephs last monday and recieved a start date of January 2006 :uhoh3: I know it seems a long way of, but all the immigration paper workd takes forever  .

Moving to arizona with my husband and two teenage girls :coollook: we are really excited and wondered if there are any nurses out there who would like to tell me of their experiences with living and working in Arizona.

Now come on on't be shy  if your lke me carn't stop me talking once I start :rotfl: .

looking forward to reading all about you :)

Congrats! It's cold now though isnt' it? We always get a bizarre cold day or two in May...

woke up this am to rain, and temps of 80's very bizzare but roll on high temps

Just wait, the furnace that we call Phoenix weather will soon be upon us. I have a love/hate relationship with it and much prefer the mild winters much better than the heat. Hubby won't entertain the thought of moving, so I am stuck. Ideally, I am looking for mild weather all year long in the 80's w/low humidity, no snow, no earthquakes, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, and very little year-long snowbirds...so I really am truly stuck. LOL!

Temps in the 80's? Gosh, it was in the 50's here this am. And windy as heck all dang day.

Congrats on making it to sunny AZ!! It must be a bit of culture shock, eh?

How are your daughters doing with the move?

I use to live in Hertfordshire, kinda near Harlow in England. I sooooo much prefer USA although the heat in AZ can get on your nerves. My aunt and cousins visted us here in Mesa from London last september. It was 110 degrees out and they sat outside right in the sun the entire time!!

The girls love it, we came from Manchester were it rained and was over cast daily, so the hotter the beter. At the moment there spending their days swimming and shoping which sounds good to me

It was in the 50's here (Tempe) too. My birthday was on Thursday and it was too cold (and rainy and windy) to do much of anything ...... that's a first! Not that I'm complaining ..... it's a nice break from the 110 degree weather we had earlier in the week.

Maybe it's because I'm a native ..... but when people say "bring on the 110 degrees!" .... I just kinda chuckle and think "wait until October and tell me if you still feel that way!"

everyone around here also laugh at me and say wait and see but for the time being its a novelty for us, so i say roll on triple digits

Awwww betty lol. Definitely check back in here on this thread in Oct. :D

The triple digits don't bother me ...... like when it hit 110 earlier this week, no biggie. Even when it's in the triple digits for a month straight .... ok, that's tolerable. But when it's in the triple digits for MONTHS on end and the low at night is 105, and it's the end of October ..... then I'm ready for some cooler weather ;)

i am sure when we get accustomed to the idea that unlike the UK the sun is here to stay we will also be waiting for the cooler days but after 40 + yrs of rain and gray skys its so nice to be able to plan days out or BBQ without the need to have a back up plan because of the awful weather

Betty Booper you will love your first summer but only cause you have a pool!!!!! Because it is very difficult if you havent you never go outside the house.

Plus you know that new BBQ well you wont want to go stand outside end of july and cook with it!!!! Send the GBU (Az'a answer to Wyatt lol) to do all cooking outside
