Mount Sinai ABSN Summer 2020

Published

Hi all,

Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for the ABSN program starting Summer 2020?

Thanks!

for the BLS requirement I believe you can upload a document stating your plan to obtain your certification in the future

had my interview this morning, not really overly pleased with how it went (could just be me being over critical)

Felt very rigid and formal compared to the other interviews I went on, also the questions were very generic

some questions:

what was an obstacle that you had to overcome and how did you complete it?

What made you want to become a nurse?

what is a problem that you needed to resolve in your previous jobs?

are you able to handle blood and guts well, do you think that you would be able to handle it throughout the day?

if you were interviewing for a nursing position and it was between you and another applicant why should they choose you?

it was about 20 minutes long and given through zoom, there were 3 interviewers

Thanks for sharing your experience...Mt.Sinai sounds like a really disorganized program. I'm aware that most ABSN programs are "winging it", but I found out through this thread that the Summer cohort wasn't happening before I ever got an email from Mt. Sinai...

Then again, it's one of the cheapest programs in the city.

Does anyone know if they notify applicants of rejection?

If I haven't heard back about an interview and applied in February should I be concerned they rejected my application but haven't said anything?

I am in the same position. I have not heard back from anyone regarding my status, so I am assuming that I didn’t get in. I also applied back in February. I also only found out that the Summer program was not happening by reading this thread, not by receiving an email. One thing I know is that the application is still open until May 1st, so I hope we still have a chance of getting in.

I applied January and haven’t heard anything, so I assume I didn’t get in either. I ended up revising my personal statement like 50 times since I applied and the newer versions are much better , so I am worried that a Weak statement might have ruined my chances. ?

It’s so hard to wait and not hear a word!

Did anyone not get an interview but still got accepted? Also any thought on the program? I’m trying to figure out if it’s a good fit. I’m choosing between schools but I’ve heard that the program is very messy and not sure if it’s worth it.

Has anyone who applied for fall heard anything yet?

Every single ABSN program is a mess, there is absolutely no way to avoid that.

I applied for fall and haven’t heard. I applied (and my app was verified) in mid December. I’ve also been trying to get in touch with ------------------- but it’s been impossible. Then when I called this past Thursday, the secretary was like “oh I’m resigning but email this email.. gave me an email address and it was a wrong email (got an email saying return to sender email not recognized). I’m starting to feel frustrated by all of this but am hoping it’s a misrepresentation of the actual education/experience.

Hi - I'm glad to find others who applied to/and or were accepted at this school for the ABSN program. I was having a hard time finding anyone!

I received an acceptance email about a week ago, though I never had an interview. I emailed the office to get more info re: current tuition costs, but have not heard back yet. It had really taken me by surprise that the school was in the midst of a huge move -- so I was wondering how much the program would be changing accordingly (including any costs).

Right before the pandemic hit NYC, I had just put a deposit down at Columbia for their master's direct entry program and am still pretty sure that's my plan. But they will be starting it over the Summer 100% online and I'm a little leery about that, so trying to keep my ears open about what other schools are doing. I'm pretty sure most nursing schools, especially here in NYC, are super screwed right now.

Anyway, hope everyone is staying healthy and safe and thanks for sharing info -- which is not easy to come by right now!

I submitted my application for the Summer program by the end of January and I just received the acceptance letter this morning. They did not ask me for an interview either.
