I'm continuing my search for an online FNP school. I'm looking for regional and national accreditation, and associated with a b&m school. A part time option would be best for me. Periodic site visits are ok, but the pace of part time would be best. I've looked at UT-A, GU, and UC. Am I missing any others? I'm military so cost isn't a factor I will be utilizing my GI bill. Thanks!
I honestly don't know much more about it. Like I said, I didn't have to take it, I just saw people talking about it on facebook. I believe it is a shortened course they offer through an affiliate school, but I'm not certain of that.
Thanks for the reply! An admissions advisor emailed me back and I am going to call them back today and find out the specifics :)
Stat refresher is a class offered by some universities which require Stats as as pre-rec for many of their programs. It may or may not be easier or shorter, but usually only 1 or 2 credits and so costs less. Often, places which offer it as well other "refreshers" only accept pre-rec (s) from very limited list of colleges and so offer this "alternative" for those unfortunates who got them, with whatever scores, from other places. In a nutshell, it is just another way to get potential student's muneys.I understand that OP has over 12 years of experience but it might worth to think about a way to boost GPA a little. I do not know for sure about private colleges but places like UofM, Duke and such may have "internal cutoff" GPA well above of the "official" one. UofM, AFAIK, has official GPA cutoff of 3.0 for MSN programs but internal cutoff must be about 3.5, counting the mean for accepted classes for several past years. GPA of 3.07 may be more than a small dink if one thinks of elite school, online or otherwise. Sorry to say it.
Thanks Katie, I think you are right that I should consider reinforcing my gpa a bit, especially for the likes of Duke, GU, etc. At this point rather than re-taking undergrad classes I'm exploring the option of taking some grad school classes (Adv Patho, Adv Pharm) as non-degree seeking to show I can succeed in grad classes. I have found a few schools that will allow non-degree seeking students so definitely giving this a good consideration
Frontier is a very reputable school, a few visits are required. The first NP school in the US, highly respected.

There were people here looking just for such classes, so if you could kindly make a separate topic and post your findings there it would be to the great benefit of many:)

I've definitely considered Frontier, I'm originally from Kentucky also and went to nursing school not too far from Hyden. I agree very reputable!
I go to the University of South Carolina. The program is online, but there are campus visits. 1-2 a clinical semester. Im not really sure how set in stone those are for out-of-state students. It may depend on each professor and program overall. My friend moved to NC and has been able to do videos for check-offs and have her preceptor do official check-offs during clinical since her move. She is FNP. There is a part-time option.
