Most reputable brick and mortar-based online FNP?

I'm continuing my search for an online FNP school. I'm looking for regional and national accreditation, and associated with a b&m school. A part time option would be best for me. Periodic site visits are ok, but the pace of part time would be best. I've looked at UT-A, GU, and UC. Am I missing any others? I'm military so cost isn't a factor I will be utilizing my GI bill. Thanks!

Check out Simmons College. B&M is in Boston, Mass. One campus visit. Excellent private school :-)

Specializes in ICU, LTACH, Internal Medicine.

UofM Flint. Part-time option, GI bills welcome, 100%board passing, research and many other things including clinicals can be done in UofM Ann Arbor if desired. 6 to 8 campus visits. Additional benefit:non-private and not expensive. Only one possible negative, on top of being in Michigan and in the famous city of Flint at that, is they enroll only once in a year and quite competitive.

Thanks! i am considering Simmons but the Statistics requirement may be my downfall. I took it back in 1999 and got a C. Their website says to contact them if you don't meet that requirement, so i've emailed them asking what options are, i'm guessing retaking the class. yuck.

I have not looked at this school! 6-8 campus visits may be a bit excessive, especially since i'll be living in the pacific northwest for most of the program. Also, as far as competiveness, i'm a little worried, my nursing school gpa is 3.07 so may be another ding. I have 12 years ICU experience and have had many fantastic nursing experiences in the military. I think my background in nursing is very competitive, except my gpa. I think most programs look at the whole person, not just gpa (I hope) haha

There are a few people in my cohort that have to do a stats refresher. I don't know much about it because I didn't need to do any update courses, but it sounds relatively painless. Also, you are right about how most programs look at the whole story, not just a GPA value. I'm sure that your expansive experience will keep you competitive and help out your GPA, so I wouldn't worry TOO much about being competitive.

Gonzaga and Duke

I haven't looked at Gonzaga yet but I have looked at Duke. Both are big names. If I could get into either of them I'd jump at the chance! Ultra expensive but thank god for the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon!

Awesome thats good to know. What is the "Statistics Refresher" exactly? Is it a class that they offer? Or is it a self-study type thing?

Hey I live in the PNW and am military as well. My grad school is on the East Coast and I have one visit a semester at least.

Sometimes more semesters and prof face time is ideal. Sure it costs more but the GI Bill is going to pick up a lot of the slack. I would look for a school with at least a few campus visits especially if you are in a ACNP program with procedures. Even with FNP I would want more than one visit, it's nice to get the face time.

I honestly don't know much more about it. Like I said, I didn't have to take it, I just saw people talking about it on facebook. I believe it is a shortened course they offer through an affiliate school, but I'm not certain of that.

Duke, I have a friend finishing this year and her GI benefits made it possible for her to afford it.
