Awesome! Thanks TN, I also really missed that thread!

No problem.

We like to continue to have new threads started but understand there are some oldies but goodies. Some of the old threads get so long that they are hard for people to wade through.

So........post away.

Thanks everyone! I've lost some of my steam since my last post, but here goes:

"Yes, I know you'd like your Ambien, as is evidenced by your pressing the call light seventeen times since the last time you spoke to me about it. As I mentioned before, you did not have an order for Ambien, so I requested it from the physician who was kind enough to write you for a X1 order for it. However, until the pharmacy approves it, I can't give it, and if they have approved it by now, I may not have noticed, since, quite frankly, I am a little more concerned about my other patient's blood pressure of 190/87 right now. I'll get to your Ambien when I get the chance. Please stop annoying everyone else on the floor who passes by your room to tell me you'd like your Ambien."

Judging by many of the posts I've read on AN concerning PITFA pt family members, I thought I'd throw one out there that I'm SURE you all wish you could get away with

"I. DON'T. CARE!"

Yes, diabetes is related to food, and no, "just give him insulin" is not the best way to control it.

GO TO SLEEP! I'd love to be able to go to sleep right now, trust me.

If you can reach your mouth, more than likely you can assist with cleaning yourself after going to the bathroom. Also, if you can ring a call bell, you can raise the head of your bed!

I know I was "late" brining your pain medicine. Sorry, but the person in the next room was rude enough to suffer a cardiac arrest.

I look tired, huh? You would be too if you had you as a patient!

No, your girlfriend can't stay the night with you. You're 26, MAN UP!

Threatening to leave AMA does nothing for me. Let me help you pack!

Sometimes we can't get rid of your pain, we can only control it. And if you've been dealing with this pain "for years," being on the floor for two hours will not erase your pain.

I don't care what color or religion you are, I don't care what your insurance is. I treat all of my patients equally.

COVER UP! I don't want to see your junk.

If you ring that call bell one more time, I will stick it up your butt! Don't tempt me!

:roflmao:

Okay, I have one... that I actually said many years ago:

"Ma'am, that bad smell you are complaining about is not coming from me. It's your breath :dead:."

Trust me, she was not a nice woman and her comment was clearly meant to insult me as a low class CNA. She was very wealthy and she would always say the nastiest things to demean us all.

I never got into trouble for it.

I had a family member who was very upset because one of the telemetry lead wires popped off their loved one and "they are here for a heart condition, blah blah blah." I was next door checking my patient because I noticed their O2 sat dropped to the 70's...When I "finally" came out after they demanded I come talk to them, the family member told me, "I don't care if that patient was DYING next door, this is unacceptable!" - loud enough in the hall for everyone to hear, too. Family member is a retired LPN. I didn't have any words. I just wanted to slap that family member! What they said was UNACCEPTABLE.
