I've always heard lots of good things from friends and relatives about Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, but I know no nurses or other hospital staff who work there.
What's the environment like? Are nurses there treated well?
Does 1199 or ANA or some other union represent the nurses there?
Are there specialized training programs for new grads, aside from every hospital's typical orientation? For example, some hospitals (like NYP) offer direct ICU training for new grads interested in that specialization.
Its drug 15 calculations and basic other stuff like what would you do as a nurse. if you are an lpn most likely they will put you in primary care clinics. i refused the offer cause i wanted to be on the floor
BRONXNYNURSE you're the best! thank you for replying so quickly!! im definitely gonna go to montefiore next week on tuesday! so are you an lpn or rn? Because I am a new grad RN, and I am pretty much desperate to find work. Can you please tell me what kind of questions they ask, and whether the exams are multiple choice or not? Which location did you go to cuz they have like three of them. I don't want to call them to ask if they have open interviews because I'm scared like they'll reject me like everywhere else. Sorry I know Im asking for a lot but I have to investigate every opportunity there is cuz these are hard to come by. Any other info you can give would be great! thank you!
@waitingRN. Thanks, I have no experience, but I know someone in the hospital and I did a good amount of my clinicals there.
@Libra.rn..I think they only hire BSN now. I know some nurses that were hired with ADN back a few years ago..you should call the HR department and verify just to be safe..
I have a question though... i got an interview to one of the sites montefiore sent me to and there were other LPN with experienced interviewed too so i know im not getting the position. THere was only 1 lpn position opened at the site. I was wondering if they send your name to other sites if you don't get hired at that one site. Please let me know if you guys know!

I got a callback for a clinic job at Montefiore when I was a new grad but I decided not to take it because the hours would have kept me from going back for my RN. I never did get any response for any of the jobs in the hospital though so I am also curious to know if they hire new grads? Right now I see tons of per diem positions on their website but not too many full time spots.
