If there is already something like this, please let me know, but I thought there could be a thread for minor questions that we would feel silly to start an entire topic for. I know there are a lot of newbie school nurses who cling to this forum so I thought it might be a nice spot for our side concerns.
An example: do you have your students clean their inhalers after each use? In the hospital, not a single one of my patients EVER did this. None of the students seem especially inclined to do it except for one who does it every time with a tissue.

Thanks, just shared with family of T1D, hope it helps.

I use that picture all the time to explain why it's not okay to reuse lancets/needles! Even in psych, it gets pretty decent use, because I use it to explain to IV drug users why reusing needles even if you never, ever share them is still not cool. At the point I see them, they're coming in for detox, but hopefully it's information they can share or use themselves if they ever relapse.

I use this from amazon to get ticks out. Works really well.
Question about Vision:
I have a teacher who asked me to rescreen three students who didn't seem to be seeing well in class. All three passed but none had stellar vision (20/30-20/40).
Would it be wrong of me to send a letter that *recommends* a comprehensive eye exam? I'm new at the world of vision screenings, so I'm honestly not even sure how bad 20/30 is.

20/40 would be a fail for me, depending on age. What are your state guidelines?

I showed this to one of my T1D students today. Student told me her mom (also a nurse) was reminding her recently she needs to change the lancet as well. The look on her face was kinda awesome .

Take the information that you have from your screening and what the teacher told you and call the parents just as an FYI. Ask if the students had had a vision exam recently, tell the parents the concerns of the teachers, and recommend a vision exam just to be sure their student is seeing the best that they can in class.
