Midwestern State University

Published

Hello,

I've been searching through the message boards and I just can't find much information on people who go/have gone to the nursing program at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I was wondering...what was your entering GPA? What was your NET score? How did you like it? What hospitals did the school use for classes? Do you feel like you got a good education there?

Thanks so much!

Sarah

does anybody know when the gpa calculations show up on WTNEC? i'm guessing it's because all of my transcripts haven't been received yet?

when i applied they showed up about a week after all of my transcripts. I am in my 3rd day of nursing school at MSU haha; so if anybody has any questions please feel free to send me a pm I will gladly answer what I can.

@Congogirl Im not sure why they wont let you redo anything but I do know a way to get a hold of them. I had the same problem, i sent like 4 emails a week and called them everyday still no response. Me and my mom emailed them again(actually she did lol) with URGENT as the subject and ATTENTION MANAGERS.....tell me why they replyed THE VERY NEXT MORNING and they CALLED! I had to send my UTA transcript one day express..i sent it yesterday and it was in there today so I hoped this helped!!!

Congogirl & Ali,

I made sure to send my transcripts to the School of Nursing as well as WTNEC. I don't even know if these were the directions, but I don't trust that site. Once you have submitted an application, even if it was a semester ago and your transcripts are now different, you won't be able to change anything, including the narrative or work/volunteer experience. The only thing you can do is add a referral request if you haven't already used all three. Good luck.

Hey do any of you guys know where I can take the NET in the Dallas area, I really do not want to drive up to Wichita Falls unless I have to!

You can take it at the Dallas Nursing Institute i think its on Abrums...thats where Im taking mine in about 2 weeks. You have to take a pre test and pass it before you can take the NET. The testing days are on Tue at 4pm and thursdays at 8am.

U can take it in Elcentro too dunno about other DCCCD colleges

El Centro takes the Hesi A2 now

Hello my wonderful MSU applicants. I've been busy as you all know I started the program this week!! Let me give a little info; to the girl reapplying...why don't you just create a new email address and start over? Will it not let you do that. It might be a lengthy process but time is running out!! I cant remember the name; but I also did send my transcripts to the nursing dept as well as WTNEC! It wasn't in the directions but I did that so basically they knew if I was accepted or not before waiting all that time for WTNEC to send the transcripts. They send them about a week or two after the deadline anyways; which is FINE don't worry if the day that says "mailed" is after Sept 30. JUST AS LONG AS YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION AT THAT TIME YOU ARE FINE!!!! Supplemental things that they are sending from WTNEC to MSU is okay if it is delayed because the school knows that you submitted your app on time. As far as the NET, I took mine at UNT in Denton. I don't know if they will let you take it there because I also applied to TWU; so I don't know if you have to apply to TWU in order to take it at UNT. If yall have any other questions please feel free to contact me. But let me give you a breakdown of what has been going on. I had NURS orientation today. It will be boring to you like it was to me if any of you are OVERACHIEVERS!!! I am, so I had already read the handbook, got my scrubs and name tags before orientation and before anybody even know where or how to get the name tags; so everything was boring and recap. There are a certain few points of information that you need to know such as when you will get drug tested, fingerprinting; and a packet we need to complete. OH, BEFORE I FORGET!!!!!. TAKE PHARMACOLOGY!!! DCCCD offers it online and regular. Pharmacology at MSU is extra hard; and Y E S it transfers. You won't get a grade for it; for GPA wise, but you will either get PASS/FAIL and it counts. SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS!!!! I, myself am looking for a Pharmacology course as well. Don't stress since yall will be in the spring; you will have this FALL, The SPRING and the SUMMER to get it completed. This is just an opinion but it is a good one. For, your first semester you will have Health Assessment, Intro to Nursing and Pathophysiology (given you haven't taken Patho and Intro first; which is also an option). Intro is B O R I N G. It's talking about the role of the nurse, the "founders" of nursing i.e Florence. ETC. Pathophysiology is ONLINE. You only go for orientation the first day, and when we have a tests you take them on campus. She gives you a REVIEW, a STUDY GUIDE and tells you VERBATUM what is on the test. You can't fail. Health Assessment. THE BIG class. This is where you learn your stuff. Lol. I have clinicals one day a week. A lot of reading. Try to stay ahead in the class. I know I have only been in class a week; but I'm telling you what I know. So take my advice or not; but I'm here to help you. Please ask me anything else you would like about the application period, the process, when the letters come out; how many they accept which they will you tell you 80, but its 100. Anything else. I know yall are all anxious and nervous; so please ask me. I was right where you all are now. Good luck.

Prettyladie,

Here's a question: Do you know of any out-of-state applicants who are in the program? In other words, does the SON favor and only take Texas residents? I don't live in Texas. I ask because the public schools in CA won't consider out-of-state applicants (but that's because there is no money--they hardly accept in-staters either, LOL.)

Yes MSU accepts out of state. We have Oklahoma residents. It doesn't matter where you are from. You will just have to pay out of state tuition

MSU has an out of state fee waiver...i think they base it off of your gpa. Okay HEY GIRL!!!! I have a question about the Pharmacology class...I cant take it now because my schedule is full, i think i might take it in the summer. What is post high school score on the NET exam? WTNEC now has all of my transcripts, I submitted it as you already know lol and I have paid my 50 dollar fee...so with that being said what else needs to be done by WTNEC? Also(the last thing) I sent my transcripts to the Admissions office and they have recieved them already...now I know that when you send them to the nursing office they just give it to the admissions office(so they tell me), so do I still have to send my transcripts to the nursing office?
