Midwestern State University

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello,

I've been searching through the message boards and I just can't find much information on people who go/have gone to the nursing program at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I was wondering...what was your entering GPA? What was your NET score? How did you like it? What hospitals did the school use for classes? Do you feel like you got a good education there?

Thanks so much!

Hey! Me too! I'm going to MSU and supposed to have a "definite" done deal on the nursing program, Spring 2010. Do you guys live in Wichita Falls? None of this is easy, right? Or is it just me?

Hey guys. I've been accepted to MSU. So, any questions you have for me please send me a pm. It might take me until Monday to respond, because I'm in the process of moving; and my internet wont be running again until Monday. But i can answer any questions you have about GPA, the point system, your class schedule, books, the area, pretty much any and everything.

Good Luck,

Davaion

Hello all, you should definately brush up on the math and reading..I havent taken the NET yet( but i will in 2 weeks), I also hear that there is a science section but it wouldnt count towards your points. They do accept 80 applicants but she told me when I went there to get advised that they usually take it down to like 90-100 because some students dont accept the offer. I had 59 points when I got advised in April, but now I think I have like 60 or 61, but she told me that I shouldnt have a problem getting in. If you go onto the nursing website under BSN prelicensure then it shows you how your points will be calculated. Now I know for a fact that you get points for already havinga degree. Now I retook all the courses that I had C's in except one class. But that I really cant say simply because you have to get advised and let her tell you what you need to do as far as the C's go. Litenurse2b hello, no I dont live in Wichita Falls, I stay in Dallas, but ITS VERY SCARY to me, its just alot of stress studying for the test and worrying whether or not Im going to get in or not...even though she told me that I shouldnt have any problems getting in, its still scary. I hope this helped you guys! ANY SHE REALLY CAN GUYS....SHE HAS ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION I HAD ABOUT MSU!

ive been having problem just getting admitted into just the university. i talked to the the admissions department and they said they arent even sending out acceptance letters for spring 2010 applicants until sometime in september....my thing is i cant apply to the nursing program if im not even admitted to the univerity yet, so im not sure what to do

Ayeisha,

To tell you the truth, I am not even sure about my acceptance status for Spring 2010, because I keep forgetting to call admissions to see if they will change my acceptance date to spring from fall 2009. I had originally planned on applying for fall 2009, but missed the WTNEC deadline by 12 minutes (I know...but hey, I am on the west coast, and didn't realized the website was working on east coast time). So anyways, I was accepted to UTEP and Midwestern State in the pre-nursing majors. When I missed the nursing major deadling, UTEP changed my acceptance date to spring after I explained the situation to the admissions office, but I never called MSU, and I need to get on that. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pay the fee again.

I wouldn't worry about not getting into MSU because I read somewhere that it is generally an easy school to get into. If your GPA is at least average, you have taken all of the prerequisites, and you are in good standing at the institutions previously attended, I don't see why you wouldn't get in. If acceptances don't go out until September, I think it is safe to say that you will get an acceptance letter from MSU pre-nursing in September. I wouldn't sweat this portion of the process. Good luck.

Oh wow...i didn't even ask them that! I will be calling in the morning though, that is not fair at all. Midwestern has a habit about that....When I applied the first time it took them FOREVER just to take that 25 dollars out of my account..it drove me crazy!!!

Ayeisha who told you that you couldn't apply to the nursing program until you were accepted to msu?? I wasn't about to waste my money applying if I wasn't even accepted to the nursing program. In my acceptance letter from the nursing program which I received in april gave you a deadline to apply to the university. It said priority deadline is july first but I had until august seventh so don't freak out. Yall are stressing too much don't worry you will be fine. I was accepted in april and I don't think I applied to the actual school until may or early june

prettyladie, The admissions department were the ones i had talked to, i wasnt able to get in contact with the nursing department yesterday but i jus talked to the nursing department this morning and they said it is ok to still apply for the nursing program even if you havent been admitted to the university yet and that alot of people have been asking about that... so thats a relieve.

yeah i was like what is she talking about lol, she should be able to apply afterwards =) so thats great news, so dont worry you'll be fine. but if you want to know anything else just PM me.

I didnt know that, I thought you had to be accepted into the University first...if I would have known that I wouldnt have been rushing to send my stuff in. I just talked to admissions and I sent my last transcript off on july 13th and she said I should know in a couple of weeks if im accepted into the university. So if we are applying for the spring 10 term we will know wayyyyy before then if we are accepted into the university. I JUST CANT WAIT TIL IM DONE WITH ALL OF THIS APPLYING AND TEST TAKING LOL...it will be a big load off my back!

hello everybody!

I have been lurking through this site and I am finally posting something! I'm thinking of applying to midwestern for the spring 2010. I calculated the points and I have 59.12. Do you guys I have a chance of being accepted?

Thanks!

HI!!..when I went to get advised in April I had 59 points and she told me that I shouldnt have any problems getting in. I just needed to take Chemistry and History 1302 and get a B( which I did), retake me algebra class( I got a B) and take the NET exam. They stopped accepting students at like 56 points for Fall 09. So I think we are okay...but Im still nervous!
