Published

Here in Chicagoland, everything is closing for the next 2 days. Wednesday we will have temps around -20 with windchills to -50ish.

Who else is getting called off for the cold?

What a wonderful assistance to those in need! Made me teary reading that.

NPR had a report today. About 90 sheltered at the only motel willing to take them, and this is being paid for mostly by younger millenials. Who aren't into taking credit so much, because, as one lady put it - it's the right thing to do. So, YAY MILLENIALS!!

Wow! It warms the cockles of this salty old heart to hear such humanity. Hoping that temps don't dip that low again. (And hoping that those down on their luck can find a way back on their feet)

Not in the midwest but here in the mid-atlantic we got one three hour early dismissal, one snow day, and one two hour delayed opening out of it.

I know! We've had a 100 degree temperature swing in about 5 days!

Someone in the Chicagoland area paid for 70 unsheltered folks to stay at a hotel. My grinchy heart grew three sizes....

That was my favorite news story in a long time!

It was crazy! We were still open last Monday, after that crazy snowstorm (I think Chicago, Evanston and my district were the only schools without late starts. Then we were closed W/TH. It was glorious. My daughter and I hunkered down and did crafts, listened to audiobooks, and I binge-watched my new favorite show, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Also, if you don't have the WTForecast app, it was epic last week. It gives totally inappropriate, but hilarious descriptions of the weather.
