Microbiology: Spring 2010

Hello. Anyone out there taking Micro this semester? I thought I would start a thread for us to talk and discuss microbiology for the semester. I am looking forward to it.

What textbook are you going to be using? I am using Microbiology: With Diseases by Taxonomy - Robert Bauman. I am picking it up tomorrow.

I think it will be a great semester! :yeah:

I start my Microbiology class next Wednesday. We are using the 'Foundations in Microbiology' by Talaro. I'm really looking forward to it. First time in a classroom in more than 3 years!

I'm starting Micro on Feb 4th too. My book is Microbiology: An Introduction by Gerard Tortora.

Hey that's the same book I'll be using :) I start class on the 19th. I can't wait!

The book is pretty good. I noticed that there are some microbes they focus on thoughout when using examples. There is a nice flow and they build on the information in each chapter. I saved mine in case I need it for reference. In my class, sometimes it helped to skip to chapters we werent on yet to get additional information for homework questions.

I started micro yesterday. I will be also using "Microbiology: An Introduction" by Gerard Tortora for lecture and 2 manuals for lab. Yesterday was an introductory lecture, so, as proffessor told us, actual micro will start next week! I'm really excited! Still hope that it will be easier that A&P :)

For those of you with the Tortura book, there is an itunes review of the book that you can download from itunes for $15. Its called VangoNotes for Microbiology. I have been listening to it getting pumped up for the class that starts Jan. 23.

I started Micro this past Monday with one of my favorite teachers. We're using Microbiology: A Systems Approach. McGraw-Hill has an awesome website for their books! Online tests, animations, you name it...

hey whats up guys im in that along with anatomy.. my book is the same as posters.. Microbiology with taxonomy.. along with Eng.. basically 3/4 of main pre req just need phys.. as core pre reqs and im applying.. so u can assume im quite nervous..i start fall on FEB 4th.. so dont worry ll be whinin a LOT

Your schedule sounds a lot like mine! I'm in A&P I, Microbiology, and English II. My A&P class meets on Tuesday from 5:00pm-9:15pm and Thursday from 5:00-6:15pm. My microbiology class meets on Saturday from 8:00am-2:30pm. My english class is online. What about you?

Yeah, the itunes is pretty cool. It isn't super detailed, but it gives a good overview. I have been listening to it when I am in the car. Have you started your class yet? I start next Saturday. I am curious if the instructor will have us start at chapter 1.
