Best Doula programs?
I am going through the DONA certification process right now. I loved my trainer and found the training to be comprehensive. I decided to go with the DONA because of the name and reputation. It is a lot of work, but so far seems worth it. :)

AF Nursing with some questions
Actually there is an online MW school called Frontier. CNM is a masters or doctoral program the same as a Nurse Practioner. We have one about 45 min from where I live now.

AF Nursing with some questions
I am thinking of trying to join the AF. I am in the middle of taking my pre-reqs to get my BSN. I already have a bachelors degree in Mathematics and so I am enrolling in an 2nd degree track BSN program. I should be done in a little over one year after I start (which will be Jan 2011). My ultimate goal is to get a MSN and become a CNM (midwife). I talked with a recruiter and he said there were a few options. Option one would be to go in after I get my BSN and then work towards getting my MSN once I am in. The 2nd option would be to get my MSN on my own and then join. He said the health professionals scholarship works for CNM, but that there are very few applicants taken. I am slightly concerned about option 1 because I don't want to get in and then not be able to get my masters in a reasonable amount of time. I am 38 already and so I don't want to wait to finish my degree. I should be fine either way with the age requirement. Thoughts.... Also I have Hashimotos which is a auto-immune thyroid condition. It is well controlled on synthroid. Would this keep me out?

Is there a reason why most CNMs don't do homebirths?
CNM cannot attend home births in IL. Sigh! http://blogcritics.org/politics/article/the-right-to-choose-legalize-homebirth/

What to do with this empty bank account?
There are unsubsidized loans. Would you qualify for any of those?

Should I take Chem before taking Microbiology?
Well I took Chem like a gazillion years ago, LOL and I am taking Micro in the Spring. I am not sure if it will help or not.

Newbie with some questions
Hello! I am Christy and I am new. I just recently applied to 2 different acclerated bsn programs. We don't have any direct entry programs locally. UIC has one, but you have to go up to Chicago to do the GEP program and I can't do that. So I am going to get my BSN and then apply to get an MSN. I want to get do both a WHNP and CNM. The UIC program will let me do that I believe. I am 37 years old and originally wanted to go to medical school way back when, but at my age and with my kids being so young I am thinking this route will be better. Anyone know anything about the University of Chicago program? Will I have a problem getting in if I don't have any nursing experience. I was originally planning on trying to get into an MSN program right out of school, but now I don't know. I am starting my pre-reqs in January. I have my bachelors in mathematics. I am hoping that most of my stuff will transfer, but I just don't know. The waiting is killing me because depeding on what they will take and what they won't will make a difference in what classes I have to take. You have to apply so early for these programs. Any practical advice would be greatly appreciated.
