I was hoping to start a "sticky" for those of us facing micro this spring. I've done (and kind of enjoyed) A&P I and II but am nervous about this course. If anyone finds any good links, has Q&As or hints to share, etc., could we add them here? I have seen other posts about micro, but only by doing a search and couldn't find a dedicated thread. If there is one, point me in the right direction and I'll shut up. LOL!
Happy New Year everyone!
I'm coming late to this thread but wanted to pop my head in and say hi and I think micro is going to be the death of me! We're 5 weeks into class, the first 4 weren't so bad but this week (microbial enzymes and metabolism) makes me want to :chair::crash_com:selfbonk::behindpc:
Anyone else? I'm hoping this is just a tough patch and the rest of it isn't so hard to wrap my brain around. Our prof told us not to get too detailed into the whole cellular respiration thing but when I took the quiz guess what the questions were like?? Yep, all the minute details of the process. :scrm:
It doesn't help that I'm taking this online either..... :yldhdbng:
My final grade was just posted and I got a B in the class. I'm so happy! I bombed one of my exams having taken it half in a coma due to illness. If I hadn't bombed it I would've had an easy A. I really loved the class. Now I'm done with ADN prerequisites! Woot! Just need my transcripts and I can wait for a spot like everyone else
Hi everyone, I just jumped on this thread and would like to say congrats to everyone that passed micro. I've just completed my first week of Micro. I hope to be accepted into a ADRN program for the fall. I have a quick question. I have read how a lot of students are using the Micro textbook by Tortora,Funke, and Case and I am wondering if anyone has downloaded the audiobook for that text from Itunes and is it worth using? I am not using the same textbook but was thinking about downloading it from Itunes to supplement my studies. Any info would be much appreciated :bowingpur

I downloaded it and listened to it as a supplement, something to have buzzing around my ears when I was doing other things. I liked it because there would be a lecture followed by multiple choice quiz, T/F, and short answer quizzes before moving on to new material.
I used the Vangonotes audibles as a supplement as well. I liked them because they were clear, easy to understand, and had relatable examples with material that can sometimes be a little bit complicated. I listened to them in my car and also liked the practice quizzes after each chapter.
Good luck!

Thanks, I went ahead and bought the Vangonotes since it wasn't that expensive. I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet but I'm sure I'll get plenty of use from them. Thanks again for you info.:)

depends if your school requires it, but I don't think you need A & P to take micro. I took mine while I was taking the first A &P. You don't need a detailed knowledge of the human body for micro since it's mainly about bacteria, virus, fungi, etc.
