Microbiology-Spring 2008

Published

I was hoping to start a "sticky" for those of us facing micro this spring. I've done (and kind of enjoyed) A&P I and II but am nervous about this course. If anyone finds any good links, has Q&As or hints to share, etc., could we add them here? I have seen other posts about micro, but only by doing a search and couldn't find a dedicated thread. If there is one, point me in the right direction and I'll shut up. LOL!

Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Dtrmnd2sccd,

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. Congrats on your acceptance to NS! It's hard to believe that someday :redpinkhe I will be where you are. I just have to keep my eye on the prize! It seems slow going but I know in the end it will be worth it! I just found out that I will have to take another pre-req that I wasn't planning on having to take (Chem 101). Scary...it's been a long time but I have no choice. Guess I'll be taking that next Fall, then A&PI, A&PII,then Micro. I will apply to NS in Winter of '09 for school starting in Fall of '10. Sounds far far away! I wish I could take more classes at once but with small babes in the house there's just no possible way.

Thanks again for your input, I appreciate it!

I'm currently in a micro class and would love to know if anyone has found any useful websites that have high quality micrographs (annotated or otherwise) for study at home. My time in the actual lab is limited and I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

thanks

I just finished Micro and I am being too hard on myself. I got an A in lab & a B in the lecture. I keep hearing everyone stressing to get A's in every class, so I guess that's why I am dissapointed. For all of you taking Micro this summer, study..study...& study some more.

Specializes in acute care.

my last micro lab exam is tomorrow, then our lecture final is on the 14th. So glad this semester is (almost) over. I'm going to enjoy this summer.

Specializes in SNU/SNF/MedSurg, SPCU Ortho/Neuro/Spine.

I'm taking AP1 and 2 and micro this summer!!!!

hope everyone did well! I managed an A in micro & nutrition!!!! So I am happy :yeah:!!!!! Now I am getting ready for pharmacology in June!!! In the mean time, I can sleep in, hit the gym hard, and spend quality time with friends and family. Looking forward to walking my dog too

I cant believe spring semester is basically over!

wow...txgrl you are the first person that i have every heard made an A in micro...i am takin it this summer and i really dont want to mess up my 4.0

I honestly think the teacher you have has a lot to do it with it too. My professor was awesome. She told us exactly what to study... she would tell us to stick to that and the test would be word for word. So if we study we will know it right away. Also, for the lab final she gave us a review. She was great. My A&P2 Professor was the opposite. He would give us a review but it was very broad! We had a strong study group though, and that really helped everyone out a lot!

txgrl23, congrats on your awesome grades! Enjoy the summer off, you deserve it!

I'll be taking Intercultural Communications (Speech) one of my pre-reqs. Just one class over the summer- gotta have time to take the kids to the beach!

Again, great job in Micro & Nutrition.

Busymomof5: I am taking a 10-week course! I gave up my weekends for this class too. Ill be in class all day on saturdays from June-mid August. It bites, but this will determine if I start NS this fall. Thats my motivation :)

Oh, the class is Pharmacology :uhoh3:

I am tres jealous of everyone finishing up - I have another couple weeks before finals start. We have our two big "projects" due next week. We did an unknowns lab (I got lucky and I am already done separating and identifying!) and a research project (almost done). I have an A going into finals - our professor is awesome, it is obvious that he loves to teach. He breaks things down, and points out the things that he didn't get to in lecture, but are important. Good luck to everyone else!

oh my goodness - I bow down to you! You are very motivated! That's awesome, I revise my previous post to say, Relax over the next few weeks and enjoy your break!

Do you have to take Pharmacology to get into NS? Is that one of your pre-reqs?
