I am an older student as well (35) with a 5 year old. We started yesterday and after talking about all the experiments we will be doing I am definitely scared:(. I have my digital recorder that I will be using. It helped me so much with physiology, I downloaded them to my ipod and I listen to them while I am working out. And plus they helps me concentrate on the lecture rather then writing everything down. Good luck to all:heartbeat.

I'm taking it this fall, count me in!

Specializes in Emergency.
In my last on campus course it seemed like I was pretty much the only person withOUT kids. I'm plenty busy enough with a husband in school, 2 cats, and a full time job :)

I love that!!! I do have a son that is 20 but he doesn't live at home. He is bipolar and needs help but is on his own but still needs help. You are right though....you have plenty to do!!! I have 5 cats, 3 dogs, about 300 hummingbirds, and 10+ deer....you don't always need kids to be busy with school. :anmllvr:

I'm a huge animal lover :) I actually came to the field of nursing after working in a veterinary hospital for almost 4 years. I loved it there, so much, but there's really no future and never a good salary :( I hope to one day work with the therapy dogs in whatever hospital I end up with :)

I bought my textbook last night, opened it to a random page and just about had a heart attack. I'm terrified of this class!

Specializes in Emergency.

I've been to my Micro lecture twice this week trying VERY hard not to be worried!! Our lab we are doing the microscope so all is good with that...but that will get hard I know. I'm sure we can all work together and make it through! I hope......:thnkg:

Count me in too!

Hey there, I am also taking micro at SCC starting 8/25. I am taking Agustin. I am also taking A&P I and Dev Psych. Very nervous!! I am 39 and have two kids also....let me know who you have?

Specializes in ICU.

Class starts in 6 hours. :uhoh21: I'm pretty nervous.

I think I will head over to Target on my lunch break and buy a recorder. Sounds like it will come in handy. Can anyone recommend a good one (that Target carries)?

Specializes in Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy.

I'm taking Micro this semester, along with 4 psych courses. This is my very last pre-req before applying to nursing school!

Things were pretty hairy up to the last minute as I was trying to do online registration and was unable to complete it. I went down to the school last week to register in person, and I thought I was all set, but the computer still would not register my classes!! Finally, today, the last day of registration, I went back and found out that the computer was not accepting my registration because all classes were full. (Duh--why not tell me that earlier?) I had to go to a DIFFERENT building to get permission for overtally and then go back again to register--I sure clocked lots of mileage on the good ole' pedometer! But that's good because I"m always looking for ways to burn off more weight.

So anyway I made it into this class just under the radar, and I look forward to starting class this Thursday. I can't believe that I'm only a semester away from nursing school!!!

I have been taking only 1 science pre-req per semester because that's about all I felt I could handle away from home (I took a full course load of online academics though). I thought I'd never finish but here I am!
