Hi ya'll! Anybody taking Micro this coming fall semester and want to form a study group? I did this for A&P I and II and it helped tremendously! I'm taking it along with Chem 1151 (Survey of Chem). Thanks!

I am so peeved at myself...I messed up my lab skills test! I was so nervous that I stuck the loop in the broth before I had sterilized the tube!!!:madface: As soon as I did it I knew. Hopefully it doesn't mess my grade up too bad, I did the rest of the stuff correctly. Our second part is Weds and it's going to be much harder...gram and acid fast staining and identifying an unknown. Wish me luck! Hopefully I don't mess this one up too.

I got good news in class on Tuesday night...2 of the questions that I missed I am getting credit for so I now have a 91!!!

Tuesday was my birthday so that was a great present. On top of that I had my A&P II test that day also and got a 92! Whoop! I am excited. Today I have my A&P II lab practical but I think that I am prepared. So far so good this semester, but there is still a ways to go.

I did great on the second part of my lab practical last night!!!:D We had to identify an unknown bacteria by appearance/gram stain/acid fast stain and I got M. lutea which grows bright yellow in the agar tube (all the rest are off-white except one which grows red). I was so happy to see that yellow tube I almost did a little dance! Luck of the draw I guess. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Congrats on the great grades!!!

I got an 87 on the micro test. Not too bad - I'm happy. A little disappointed that I wasnt given full credit on 2 of the essay questions though. Grrrrr... she was looking for a specific word and I wrote every BUT that word on those 2. But oh well - I will know for next time what she is expecting. The lab practical is next Wed - VERY nervous about that!

We got our tests back and I got a 90%, which is good...but I was a little disappointed because I thought I had done better. The ones I missed were multiple choice, which I never do well on anyway. I got full credit on both essays, which I was surprised about because they were worth 15 points each.

I got my resuts back on my first lecture exam last night and was a little disappointed that I got an 85. I did great on the discussion questions, but he got me on the chemistry questions, which has always been my weak point! Anyway, now I know how he tests, what he looks for, and so the next one will be better. We have our first lab practical tomorrow night and he reviewed for it last night and he's going to have the lab open today at noon for an hour and tomorrow afternoon until 5, so I think that will help. We've already grown one culture, which was really interesting. How is everybody else doing?

I got 96% on my first exam. I got points off for not drawing pictures to go with my essay questions.

I've been absent. My hubby has been working a second job for extra cash and I've been trying to help at our business plus classes :bugeyes: Hope everyone's classes are going great! I'm gonna try and catch-up. My next Micro lab test is tomorrow and I'm really worried about it!! :uhoh3:

Glad to hear that everyone is doing so good. We don't have "lab practicals" in our micro class. We have a midterm and a final test both which are multiple choice 50 questions each and then we also have the gram stain, weekly quiz grades and then our unknowns. And to top it off our teacher lets us do our quizzes as a group with open book! He said he cares more about us learning the material and going over it together than he cares about the grades. He is AWESOME!!! I am loving this class.

HELP!!!! My teacher assigned an extra credit assignment for us (up to 10 points) and of course I want the 10 points, especially since I got a C on my lecture test :(. Anyway, I need some help since I'm NOT creative at all. She wants us to dress up like something microbiology as our Halloween costume. And we're going to have to wear it ALL class long so I need something practical, that I can move around in. Any suggestions???

I'm not sure about a Halloween costume...could you wear pink or purple sweats/scrubs and say you were a gram-stained bacterium? Or maybe you could stick pipe cleaners out of an old set of sweats and say the are peritrichous flagella? Just have fun with it, I'm sure that's what your prof is looking for!
