I've enjoyed a few weeks off, but I am ready to jump back in. My first class is Thursday. How is everyone else doing so far?

My first class is also Thursday! I'm excited.:D I'm so glad I've already had this professor before for regular bio back when I starting the pre-reqs. She was amazing, so that takes the stress off.

Good luck everyone!

Professor emailed us today. Class isn't starting until next week, because one of the labs would start before the first lecture class. Now we are going to have one less week of classes. I want to get going!!!

I started on Monday but today we started the actual lecture. We're using the 'Foundations In Microbiology' textbook. Everything is going good so far. Professor moving a little fast, but I'm keeping up.

So how is Micro for everyone? We had our first test last week on Ch. 1-4 in the Tortora book. Chapter 5 is starting off pretty intense. So far, I am really enjoying the lab part, we've done gram stains, and made countless slides and plates.

Best, L.

Had a quiz last week -- I got a 9.5/10 (stupid error), and a test today on chapters 1-3. Pretty easy. So far I like it. My teacher has already warned us that chapter 5 is one of the harder chapters though.:uhoh3:

First test in two weeks, my wrist hurts from speed note taking. Its interesting and fast paced. I've been rewriting my notes, then typing them, with diagrams and tables from micro websites. It seems to help, but I'm ready for a test to so I know what to expect the rest of the semester.

Wait until you guys start doing the biochemical tests :D ... Make flashcards on those, just sayin'!!

I had the Tortora book when I took micro, I do remember the dreaded chapter 5, that's about metabolism, no? YIKES! that is intense but do-able! Heads up on the genetics chapter too, was that ch. 8? Cannot recall.

Not saying these things to scare you, because you can do it!!

Had my first lecture test this week. Won't know what I got till the end of the week but I think I did OK. Probably a B, but I'm satisfied with that because I procrastinated and waited till the last minute to start studying. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though. I'm jealous of you guys that have the test on 3-4 chapters. Ours covered 8!!! Including Ch 5 and Ch 8 Whew!! Our prof did say that test 1 would be the easiest so I can't afford to procrastinate like this again for the rest of the semester.

Kinda flustered with lab. I've had to repeat my stains more than once to get them to come out right. I know I need to get it right so I can do the unknown later on. But I'm a little more relaxed in the class than I was the first 2 weeks so hopefully I will completely settle in and get really get comfortable with it. Not worried about lecture though, I just need to stop procrastinating. Lab, has me a little worried though. But I've gotten 100 on the 3 lab quizzes so far, its just doing the darn stains that I keep messing up. Thankfully those were not graded!!

Hey everyone,

I have enjoyed Micro more that I thought I would. It hasn't been as bad as I expected! I have my first final next week so we'll see how it goes.I might have a change of heart LOL what did you guys find to be the hardest on your final / test?

Wow, did way better than I thought I did on my first lecture exam. 93!!! I thought it would be a B. Cool beans!!

I am loving it so far, especially the lab. We'll see how much I love after my first test.

My teacher keeps it very interesting, and doesnt seem to expect us to know every detail of each chapter. He gives reading assignments that are only a smart part of the chapters, he says the rest is fluff? Do we get tested on fluff, though?
