My tone? Go on making assumptions.... Never mind

It's not an assumption, it's a very clear impression you are giving me, and I'm stating that.

I do believe I am as entitled to voice my reaction to your abrasive statements as you are to voice them.

We'll agree on ONE thing here: "Never mind" ;)

Again you seem not to understand the difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Yeah, I should learn that. I may just have to use the ignore function again, but I have to say, the lack of action by moderators against the rudeness and disrespect is disappointing.

Still working on that skill....I envy you! :)

Might be time to bust out the 'Ignore' button :D

I read the bill.

i see no practical value to it at all. Seems like a lot of pandering to a select few.

"HEYYYYYY let's not do CPR on this person---I think they are GAY/A DEVIL WORSHIPER/ATHEIST?MUSLIM/JEWISH/CATHOLIC.....!!!" SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

Federal law prohibits asking questions based on someone's gender, religion, sexual orientation. Not to mention federal funds are based in part of non-discrimination.

So Michigan can get all up in arms and be biased to the core, however, federal law dictates otherwise, so not sure how that will fly.

Disgusting. Nursing is about the patient, not about the judgements of the nurse.

I've been to a really good Rolling Stones concert.

As long as you weren't ****ahem***** stoned....... :wideyed:

I think they may have taken this action because there is a high number of Muslims.

Absolutely. Political misuse of power.....oh, wait; that's status quo! But the fact that it exists allows for even worse abuse and misuse.....and the inevitable lawsuit and loophole protections.

Crazy thing is, although we here on AN are (naturally) reading "healthcare" into this as the intent, it could be used by absolutely anyone for absolutely any reason. Discrimination in every service setting one can think of, protected by "religious freedom".

Wasn't that long ago that people any color other than white weren't allowed to shop anywhere the shop owners dictated they couldn't. Same for those of "other" religions ("other" than the shop owner, that is). And that was allowed, because the law allowed such discrimination. With a law such as this, while race isn't quite so easy to offer up as 'contrary to one's sincerely held religious convictions', there sure are many other scenarios that are very easily placed within it.

A law like this moves us backward, not forward, as a society.

Keep in mind that the ratio of posts per moderator is quite large (even worse than the worst imaginable nurse to patient ratio!), so if you feel a post is inappropriate, use the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point in the lower left corner of the post to report it. This will alert the moderators to see if the post is in violation of TOS. It's truly impossible for them to read each and every post.

Back on topic: This bill is a waste of legislative time and resources, most likely going to be struck down by the Supreme Court (or even any lower courts) if it is able to pass, and ignoring much more important topics that the legislature needs to be concerned about.
