Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

If it is the same one that is on the syllabus but just an older edition, it should be fine. You may need to put an extra effort to match what chapters are on the syllabus with the ones in the book.

Hey guys. Finishing first semester and getting ready for our hesi fundamentals exam next week.....I've got a rolling backpack, it's totally worth it, you'll be carrying lots of books around. We got our name tags but never used them, it's more of a souvenir than a necessity....Get ready to make a lot of time for studying, start managing your time from day one. Fundamentals requires so much reading and studying, and I found the best way for me was to get the reading done before the lecture. Use the powerpoint to guide your reading, get that done before lecture, once lecture comes around you've read the chapter and you can take notes and feel more at ease that you'll already have an idea what the lecture is about. Makes it a bit more easy when you have to move from chapter to chapter before the exam comes around. There's nothing easy about this program , but it's doable and you'll be glad you're in one of the best programs in south florida, but it's definteely not easy. Study groups are good, you'll become a little family with your peers and you'll need that social support. Most students basically live on campus, studying after class, meeting up for study groups or practice time in the lab. I actually like this campus a lot and have found many areas suitable for studying. I rented all my books and was able to highlight them, because highlighting is a must. Anyway good luck! ...... I almost didn't make it into the program in the fall, but we made it in the last group! And this first semester flew by!!!
