Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

are classes for generic chosen at the orientation or we do it now.....this is soooo confusing i know registrtion for regular classes is going on but i dont even know what classes i need or anything?????

At orientation you get the class list and the book list so you can start pricing them out. You register for your program. You all take lectures together as a program and the only choice you get to make is the location and days of clinicals. First semester is pretty much set. Check the website and see the course code like nur2011 to find out what the first semester classes are. You can then go on mdc.edu/current students and check to see what the schedule would be like. After you are cleared at orientation or whenever they feel like it you will be able to register.

Bring COPIES of all the stuff they ask for and the health records with you because before you graduate they WILL lose it.

All my classmates are graduating so you can PM if you want some contacts to buy used uniforms, lab coats, books, supplies, etc.

Yadi87,

I'm in the same boat as you. I already have a Bachelor's degree. The guy at financial aid told me that I can't do the appeal or apply for loans until after orientation. I'm freaking out because that's cutting it really close. I want to get the money now so I can get my books and start studying before classes start.

PM me.

For a list of courses for each option, go here: Medical Campus-Nursing Website

Toward the top of the pager, look for:

nursing_options.gifrn_nav_label_generic.gifrn_nav_bridge.gifrn_nav_accelerated.gifrn_nav_bsn.gif

To find the courses for Full-Time Generic, click the yellow Generic button.

Under the Generic tab, click Full-Time. You'll see a list of courses by semester after you're redirected here.

Hi again!, I was just wondering if maybe someone can show me how their degree audit looks once they got accepted into the generic full time option. of course i suggest to white out any important information. thank u !

At the top, the degree audit says something like:

23030 NURSING, ASSOCIATE DEGREE, R.N. GENERIC PRESELECT

Around the time of orientation, when you're formally accepted into the nursing program, it will change to something like:

23028 NURSING, ASSOCIATE DEGREE, R.N. (GENERIC).

Note that the number at the beginning is the program code.

Quick question for anyone who has done their CPR:

I'm doing mine this Saturday at MDC. I'm wondering, do I need to buy a book for that class? Do I need to bring anything in particular?

i have an extra CPR book still plastic-sealed. its the current ed. that you need for MDC. i even have the receipt for it and all. it costs 17.25 plus tax. but ill give it to you for ten if u are interested.some instructors require that you have it, others dont. but in my case i found my old one after i purchased the new one. when i went to the class @ kendall campus instructor Q.B. required it.

Has anyone received the book list yet? Also how are people registering before orientation. Do we have to stay with the same sequence for all of our classes. LIke can we have seq 1 for nur1025 and seq 2 for nur1142? Thanks. Also I am still trying to get a study group together for full time generic. Everyone I know is starting in accelerated?

I did my CPR on June 17, and our instructor didn't require the book. I didn't buy it, and I only saw one person that actually had it.

Hi everyone! I was just going through the available classes for the fall and noticed all of them had a desription on the bottom: sequence 1 semester 1. What is that sequence number suppose to mean?

I did my CPR on June 17, and our instructor didn't require the book. I didn't buy it, and I only saw one person that actually had it.

yeah i wish i would have had your instuctor, the one i had made everybody hold up the manuals...lol...

How would we know if its required or not? Does it say it somewhere when we registered for it? Canelaw, which professor did you have and where?
