Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

YES. Recorder will save your life.

Ipad/computer if you want to type things or look at powerpoints.

are classes for generic chosen at the orientation or we do it now.....this is soooo confusing i know registrtion for regular classes is going on but i dont even know what classes i need or anything?????

My medical went smoothly, so did the background check. I'll turn it all in on monday, although I should have gone there friday, too much rain. I'm no longer in over drive, I'm taking it easy. Il start reading after orientation because I want to enjoy my last days of freedom, when I study I go in hard. I know how it's going to be because the lpn program was intense, it engulfs your life. I'm preparing my self mentally for the challenge; now that the excitement is over and reality is afoot. one more week to orientation then is a race to get everything on the list, so I'm on a one week vacation.

Thanks for the insight, I'm doing the bridge can you tell me more about it. I'm anticipating that they'll treat us as though we should know everything, I hope this is not the case. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Can you sent me the booklist also at [email protected]?

Thank You

So do we register at orientation or before will there be seats for everyone if we register at orientation cause some class offerings only have 1 class showing right now????? I tried asking the lady at medical campus nursing dept. When i called but she was super rude . I just want to make sure i have a seat in each class i need for the 1st semester the times i really could care less about since i wont be working anyways

advice pls

Yadi- I was checking out the classes offered at Homestead for the fall, and they're showing 50-55 open seats, so I'm sure that's how many will be in the Homestead program. I haven't tried registering yet, but I know there are times listed for 3 of them when you search for the classes. I'll be going up one day this week to turn in all my stuff, so I'll see if I can find out.

There is a guaranteed seat for each student in each track. Given that the program sequence is fully structured, there is no other way they could do it.

The issue is whether you get the time/day you prefer. It's less of an issue with the part-time and accelerated tracks, since they have fewer students. I don't think the system will even let you sign up for a nursing class until your program code changes from Nursing Pre-Select to Nursing ADN (or whatever they call it).

In the full-time generic program there are two different sequences, but I don't know what that means.

If you're really intent on trying, then go for it. The worst that could happen is that the system will not let you register for the courses.

i already tried, you'll get an error message "cannot register-limited access" or something to that effect. since we are all "provisionally accepted", all the seats are full, and will be that way until orientation.

oh by the way congrats to Jeff on the accelerated program!!!!:jester:

It's not that the seats are full -- it's that they're reserved for those in the actual nursing program. You will not be officially in the Nursing program until orientation, when your status (what you see at the top of your degree audit, for instance) changes from Nursing Preselect to A.S., Nursing (or something like that).

oooooo, ok also the financial aid since i have a bachelors i know i dont qualify for grants , thats fine ill take out a loan but the guy at financial aid says i need to file a claim first??? then do a separate app for loans near the end of july when the app is available, thats kind cutting it close if we register mid july wont tuition be due mid august (roughly a month)? i dont have the cash to cover first semester

any insight, this is the first time i do fin, aid thru mdc, i did my bachelors at FIU and the loans were given to you thru fafsa app, and they showed up a month or 2 before classes started? no separate apps?
