I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.
I will start:
I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)
I finished most of the physical yesterday, did my first PPD today and will be finished by Monday/Wednesday. I did it at the Miami Rescue Mission (someone at Advisement told me about it). They have a contract/understanding with MDC and they put through all the labs as a rush in order to get everything to them on time. Getting my CPR card this Sunday and I think I'm good to go!! :0)
I also got some of the books already and since some people who have gone through the program advised me to start reading ahead of time, I'm going to start this weekend!!!

Hey Deisybear, could you send me a message with the list of the books. I would like to get started early as well.
deisybear, could you put the list up here? Someone put up a list a year or so ago, but it might be out of date. I'd really like a chance to find the books at a lower price than the school bookstore's.
I stopped by advisement this afternoon, and they said that today at 4:30 PM was the deadline for the first batch of acceptances, and sometime next week they will send out another batch of acceptances. A lot of people applied to more than one track, so there will be many openings.
As long as there are still open seats, acceptances will go out (in batches) through the first week of classes, so if you haven't received an acceptance, keep checking.
There were over 1000 individual applicants (many of whom, once again, applied to multiple tracks) for a total of 240 seats (excluding the bridge program, which I have no information on), broken up as:
accelerated --> 50 seats
generic --> 150 seats
part-time --> 40 seats
The part-time track seems to be the most competitive.
TEAS scores were down for this fall's applicants. They won't know what the rank score cutoff is until they're at the point where admission to the fall class is closed.
Ok, turned everything in today at the nursing dept, they want everything at once, I know some people say you can turn the stuff in during orientation, but the paper said due July 6, so i played it safe and followed the directions...Does anyone know how we are supposed to dress for orientation and what we are supposed to bring with us? Oh, i stopped into the bookstore and saw the new uniforms, much better than the old ones, and I'm gunna hold off buying anything until I get the official list since I'm in the bridge and I'm sure first semester books are different than the ones for other tracks, I did however get the med surg book from a friend who just completed the program.Also I got the med surg book on PDF, which is great for the iPads on the go reading...
Deisybear-can you please put the list of books on here. i was searching on line for them but coud not get them. I went ot the med campus bookstore but it was closed by 1 and i got there at 1:30. Thank you for your help.
It seems like just yesterday I was stalking this site trying to figure out what was going on with being accepted to MDC. Well I got in and now I am in my last 6 weeks! I have learned so much and it has been a great (at times) experience. MANY MANY days/nights of no sleep, learning chinese (aka nursing), and lots of laughs. Some professors and situations you can avoid and others no. Lots of books to buy and pretend to read and remember. I can tell you everything you want to know or that I know. Hit me up! Well not before July 2! We have an exit exam to get the **** out of nursing school!
