Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.
I will start:
I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

HI!
I am also applying for the Fall but in my case for the full time option. I have a 4.0 and took my TEAS last week. Got an 84. I dont know if that would be good enough, I guess will have to wait.
PS Thank u for sarting this thread :)

Hey folks, glad to hear you're applying. I'm in my first semester in the Generic Fulltime program at MDC now. Looking at your scores, I would say you're in a good position to be accepted for both programs, however the cutoff always changes from semester to semester. Don't torture yourself chasing after the advisors and asking them where the cutoff score is...they don't always know, and you'll get a bunch of different answers. If you can take the TEAS again, I would do so; there's nothing wrong with taking a second opportunity to improve your scores. That being said, you both did well!
Some advice from experience: Start your applications now. There is no worse feeling than rushing to turn in your application with the clock ticking on the last day it's due. You'll need to swing by the advisement office to pick up an application, and from there you can start getting your documents around.
Please let me know if you have any more questions :0)
Thank u for the advise! I think u r right. I was kind of worry and anxious but I think Im gonna go there in 1 or 2 weeks to see how is everything going and maybe take TEAS again to see if I can get at least 1 or 2 extra points.
Thanks Zepphead for the info!
Yea after experiencing the difficulty in receiving accurate information from the advisors, I try to rely on other students info. I always get conflicting info from various advisors.
Thanks for the advice, I will get started on the application soon.
Sure thing! MJL, I understand about the advisors. Contrary to what you'll hear from many people, I think the advisors are great over there. Unfortunately, they a lot of students have expectations of them that they just can't fulfill, so I tried not to bother them a whole lot hehe.
Mary, if you are going to take the TEAS again, make sure you get a date that you want. As the deadline approaches, the dates will start disappearing as everyone rushes to get the test done on time. From what I remember they usually list dates about a month in advance. Happy studying!
Hi ZeppHead8!!!
Thank u so much for all your help. I am constantly checking on the dates for TEAS since I know they just disappear...
However, I would just like to know if that would be really necessary because I am too close to the usual cut off or if what I have should be good enough. I dont know what to do since I found the test really hard...
Thank u for taking the time to help us :)

Hello everyone,
Im thinking about transfering to MDC from BCC because my experience in BCC was not a pleasant one. I wanted to know from the current nursing student what they think of the programs so far and the pros and cons of the program.
Natalia, my experience might differ a bit from the type of experience you'd have as a transfer student, so my recommendation would be to message a user on here named On Eagles Wings . She's very helpful and is currently in her second semester at MDC, whereas I'm in my first. Without going into too much detail, do you care to share some of the difficulties you had at BCC?
Mary, in my opinion, what you have should be good enough. I know plenty of people who have a lower total score than you, and are in MDC nursing school right now. I am just always the type to think about trying to get an edge, so if the option for a second test is available to you, and you don't mind paying another $50 and sitting through it, you might come out of it with another couple of points. Who knows?

Hello, I am currently studying and getting things done to apply at MDC and BC. I only have a 3.3:confused: in my sciences, I guess I partied to much... I'm very nervous of not getting into any program. I love nursing, all my sisters are nurses and it would be horrible and devastating if I don't get in. I would be applying to the Generic Full time Fall 2012 program, I'm not picky of where I get in. But I've been reading the other post, and does anyone think I can get in if I get a good enough score on the TEAS, also is the BC program really that horrible how people say it is??
thank you,
Stephanie

Hey Stephanie,
I think you can still get in with a good score on the TEAS. Don't forget, the selection criteria is 60% TEAS and 40% GPA. I believe MDC uses a competitive score to figure it out. For example, my GPA is 3.7 and TEAS is 85.3....my competitive score would be --> 85.3 x .6 = 51.18 + 37 (just move decimal one place to the right) = 88.18.
So if you were to get a 90 on the TEAS, your comp score would be = 90 x .6 = 54 + 33 = 87
I would like my chances with that but again, it all depends on the applicant pool every semester. I would also apply to the part-time program as well to have more of a chance.
Good luck!

Hello everyone!!
I already sent in my application for the Fall Program...how do you know the gpa for just your science classes??
