Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

studybudy12,

Be patient. Your time will come. This is coming from someone that has been in the same predicament as you. I have received so many no's but I was determined to never give up. I got deny twice for pharmacy school, I got deny once at bcc for nursing, I was told in 2008 to not even waste my time in applying for the nursing program at mdc because I was not going to get in, these words come from a advisor, I got deny for the PA program at mdc this month. I had to decline going to lpn school last year because my finances were not set.

When is your time there is nothing that will get in your way. I'm praying for you.

Thanks, Supe r.n. urse, for the pick me up. I'll probabily check my email everyday until the 6/30 then, I'll go to plan B. Keeping my faith strong, because I know I'll be a great, caring nurse when all this is said and done.

i was at medical campus yesterday, there were alot of people accepting 1 seat, while declining others, myself included since im going full time, the lady in room 1113 had a whole stack of papers from people declining seats because i think everyone applied for more than 1 track. there's going to be a 2nd string of e-mails coming soon, just hang in there...=)

nonyrn, just curious: Why did you apply to the MDC PA program?

hey super nurse! i took my response form in yesterday to the medical campus and i selected the face to face option. looks like we will be classmates! :) looking forward to meeting you.

Tragically hip,

I had three different plans, my 1st plan was to apply for MDC PA program on January because it is very inexpensive, 2nd plan was to apply for MDC RN in may, in case I did not get accepted to the PA program and my 3rd was to fully focus on applying for a master programs in case MDC did not accept me into either programs since I am finishing my bachelor in biology this summer so that I could later apply for PA or AA (anesthesiologist assistant).

nonyrn, I was wondering, because the paths you were considering were very different. There is a great divergence in philosophy and approach between PA and nursing. Also, MDC's PA program has a "clinical experience" (such as shadowing) requirement.

tragically hip ,

if we start a discussing on what your views and my views are on pa and nursing or pa and arnp we will most likely never finish the discussion. there are many similarities especially since the opportunities in the nursing field are enormous once we start to looking into specialties in a master level.

in regards to the pa program at mdc i completed the entire process including the shadowing and examination required.

my goal is to work in the medical field so i created as many opportunities as possible under my circumstances to make it possible. that is why i encourage others to try entering in the medical field in more than one way whether it is at a lpn position or to acquire a bachelor that they can utilize later on in their career or use it for the accelerated program.

Hello there marcnmiami26,

You brave soul u. Going through the trenches of nursing school land. I'm hearing words of hope here. I'm holding out for the 2nd string of e-mails. I only applied for one track because I was being sincere of what I really wanted, so much for that, know I would take any track.

Thanks, Nonyrn. "When it is your time there is nothing that will get in your way. I'm praying for you." except for my stumble out the door. :lol2:

:) Glad to be an encouragement. I recommend calling or even showing up to verify. I heard of a girl who was accepted but didn't recieve a letter. She went before the deadline to respond and didn't get her seat taken away. Talk about a close call. But anyway if you have to apply again, do so. But I wouldn't give up hope yet
