Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.
I will start:
I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)
thanks merlina! actually i when i went to turn in my response form, the girl at the desk gave me this number also. she said they do it much cheaper than anywhere else. i already did the background check and i have my cpr cert. all i need to do it the medical stuff and then i am done and will just wait for orientation! :)
The medical office is on south lejune road right of the 836 by the airport, cant remember the name, but its on a post from this thread. they open on saturdays but that means you will need to return monday and then wednesday, to read the first ppd and read the second ppd, respectively. its a long drive for me but its almost over. I went in the book store to check out what they had, the manager told me they changing the uniform to scrubs 1 grean and 1 white, they just haven't put them out yet, cant say if im disappointed or not. They also have tones of used books while it last, but i was in and out of there in a flash with the finger printing. now im waiting on all the results and findings, so i can turn them in, get started now time is flying
Congrats to everyone that got in!!! Again, to those still waiting...hope is not lost. Don't count yourself out yet.
@Merlina...be VERY happy you're getting new uniforms. The ones we have now are pretty rough.
As far as books, hit up Amazon and Half.com for them. I have the list from Spring semester orientation, I don't know what changes they've made but if anyone would like to have it, PM me and I'll e-mail a copy of it to you. Congrats again! Get your stuff done!
hey guys im going to homestead campus
question 1 - are classes chosen at orientation?
question 2 - can homestead student choose to do their clinicals at baptist homestead hospital?
word of adivce for health records..i got mine done for 10.00 yes ten dollars through my primary car physician, so if any of you have insurance i highly reccomend this route over spending 150.00 i did mine last thur. got all results this morning and turned it in , also finished my cpr/bls on sat. and background check this morning...so far so good, but man medial campus was packed with people today ..you could barely walk in the nursing dept.
a laptop makes everything easier, especially when working after hours, and the computer lab is closed. voice recording on the other hand depends on the professor. some allow it, others do not. in the state of FL it is illegal to record someone without their knowledge so make sure you ask beforehand. but yeah, ive recorded lectures before, and it shows some professors that you really are interested in what they are saying. be cafeful with IPAD as some software are not compatible ex. MDC's ANGEL in blended courses doesn't support safari. hope this helps.
Hey Merlina! Where are u getting all of the medical stuff done and how much does it cost? (If u don't mind me asking) Thanks!
I got my medical records at Aventura Family Health Center located at 16899 NE 15 Ave, North Miami Beach, 33162
Ph: 305-940-8717. I've paid $220.00 for everything. The office opens on Saturday, just a call in advance.

If someone lives near Aventura, North Miami Beach or Sunny Isles Beach, can go there. Since you'll need to go there at least 4 times you could save time on your trips.
