MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014

Published

I just sent in my application for MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014 and I was hoping to get in touch with other applicants. I applied for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP. The wait is going to kill me! I'm wondering about other people's backgrounds (GPA, GRE scores, experience, etc.) and if anyone has an idea of who MGH accepts. Look forward to hearing from you!

Congrats everyone. I was accepted to PMHNP with scholarship, but I will most likely be declining in favor of Vanderbilt or BC. Good luck to you all!

im also trying to figure out if BC is a good choice for me...what do you like about their program? are you concerned at all about the lack of BSN degree awarded?

Ahhhh, I got into the acute care program! I was so nervous as I had two rejections, and this was my last hope! Ahhhh so excited.

For filling out the FAFSA... Since they award a BSN at the end of the program, are you considered a 5th year undergraduate the first year of the program? Or are you classified as a graduate student the entire time since you are awarded the two degrees concurrently?

I guess you are considered a graduate the whole time as its going to be second BS degree (BSN) i aint sure. Still need to fill out fafsa.

@droux - I asked MGH that question yesterday. Here is their response:

"DEN students are considered graduate students working on a graduate program. Please let me know if you have any other questions."

It looks like it would be considered a grad program for each year's FAFSA.

Hey Epoc, thank you for that info!!! And that is awesome we are classified as a grad student the whole time! Many more $$ options!

Hey all! Congrats to the accepted students! Reading a little bit more, I found this tidbit.. "waitlisted students will only be admitted if a seat becomes available after the deposit deadline for admitted students". Would any of the accepted students mind sharing if there was a date for the deposit deadline listed on your acceptance letter, just so we have an idea of when things may start happening with the waitlist? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The date listed on my letter was March 6th so I would guess some time around then!

Congrats! I was also accepted into the PMHNP track...so far I am deciding between Regis and MGH. I spoke with faculty at MGH who is a family friend and psych DNP who said great things about MGH, but still wondering what the best decision is!

sarahd12- I was accepted into Regis & MGH as well. I went back and forth between the two, but I think I'm leaning towards MGH at this point based on things I've heard from people that know the program well. I need to decide soon since my Regis deposit is due Monday.

Hey guys, I just joined this site but have been following the conversation lol. Congratulations to everyone that got in! I also got an email this morning that I am on the wait list for the Psych/Mental Health track. Since the wait list isn't ranked, does anyone know how they decide who gets in if there is an opening?
