  1. It's true; all the DE programs are expensive. UMass is less expensive for MA residents than the private school options - about 60k over three years. Congratulations on both acceptances. I haven't been to Simmons beyond an open information session. It has a good reputation. I've heard that they can be a bit disorganized, but that's hearsay. I do not know that you can go wrong picking between strong programs, so that should be some comfort!
  2. I received an acceptance letter from Simmons in the mail yesterday. There was no interview or phone call, so it came as a surprise. Hope others are receiving good news! They gave me a scholarship, but it looks like Simmons will still be an expensive option. I will most likely end up giving up my seat and going to MGH or UMass.
  3. Accepted students have 15 days to respond, according to an email I received from the admissions coordinator.
  4. whyohwhy: In case it helps, I was waitlisted with a 3.65 GPA in undergrad (English/Sociology double major), 3.7+ cumulative GPA including post-bacc courses, 4.0 pre-req and science GPAs. I work at a cancer research organization, but my only direct patient contact is as a volunteer. Quantitative GREs were middling but I was in the 97th percentile for verbal. No masters degree. ~5 years experience in clinical research.
  5. I was waitlisted for the adult-gero primary care. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted! I was accepted to Northeastern's on campus program and MGH's dual adult/women's health programs, so I am not doomed to wither on the waitlist vine. :)
  6. I live in East Somerville, on the border with Charlestown. It's a relatively inexpensive neighborhood by Boston standards and significantly cheaper than the (literal) other side of the tracks in Charlestown. It looks a little seedy and has a matching reputation historically, but it is actually very safe. It's one bus, no transfers from Sullivan Station to the Navy Yard. Just throwing it out there if people are looking for neighborhood options.
  7. @ droux, I'm just trying to stay sane! Living in Boston isn't cheap, but it's definitely less expensive than New York.
  8. It looks like some of the fees, etc. I used for my previous have changed for Fall 2014. There is a $500 annual clinical fee and a few other changes. My new total is $125,724 for tuition and fees.
  9. Hey guys, I don't know if this is of any use, but I put together a quick cost summary for the MGH DE MSN using my concentration, Dual Adult Gero/Women's Health. Note that other concentrations are less expensive because of the required credit hours. Let me know if you see any errors in my math. :) I threw this together this morning. I am deciding between programs in part based on cost and thought others may be in the same boat.
  10. @droux - I asked MGH that question yesterday. Here is their response: "DEN students are considered graduate students working on a graduate program. Please let me know if you have any other questions." It looks like it would be considered a grad program for each year's FAFSA.
  11. Admitted to Adult-Gerontology/Women's Health! My letter looks different - no mention of a scholarship: Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that the Department of Nursing admissions committee, in coordination with the Office of Admission would like to offer you admission to the Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing program at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, with classes commencing Fall 2014.
  12. No email for me and my application still says submitted/complete for review. I agree that they are probably doing it in waves. Maybe they batch the applications for review meetings? Good luck to everyone.
  13. Progress!! Good luck! I have not received anything yet.
  14. Nothing yet! 2/11/14 9:15 pm.
  15. I am curious to know how others are deciding on their top programs!
