MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014

U.S.A. Massachusetts

I just sent in my application for MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014 and I was hoping to get in touch with other applicants. I applied for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP. The wait is going to kill me! I'm wondering about other people's backgrounds (GPA, GRE scores, experience, etc.) and if anyone has an idea of who MGH accepts. Look forward to hearing from you!

I heard that I got off the waitlist for MGH last Thursday. The deposit was due this Friday...I declined as I am going to Johns Hopkins. Hope this opens a spot for somebody!

No offense, but if you got into the Northeastern program, you should definitely go. It is a much, much better program than the MGH program.

Hi guys-

I graduated from MGH, so if you have questions, feel free to ask.

One thing they didn't tell us until our second year is that there is NO maternity and NO pediatrics clinical for either the MGHIHP Adult/Gero acute or primary care tracks. Our maternity class was only 3 sessions in person, mostly online. People were bitter about this.

You really should go to a school that will give you a full rotation in each of these, as well as an 8-12 week immersion with another nurse. It makes a huge difference in getting you up and running as a nurse.

I was accepted to MGH, but by the time the acceptance came I had already put down my deposit for the University of Rochester. I started the program 10 days ago and love it! You can apply to the BSN to MSN program, but I didn't. I only applies to the accelerated BSN portion. In reply to what Endebted_Forever said, a big deciding factor for everyone would be clinicals. Here at U of R we get a couple weeks in maternity and a couple in pediatrics. We also get an immersion with a nurse, following their schedule and working with them, for our last semester. I would just make sure to keep all this in mind when deciding on a program.

How do I get decent affordable housing close to school? Preferably with students in same program (MSN FNP).
