Merritt College ADN Fall 2020

Hello! I didn't see a forum for Fall 2020 applicants so I thought I'd start one. Good luck everyone ?

This is what they emailed me this morning:

“We have confirmed that you were sent the correct letters. The first letter states that you are eligible to continue in the application process. Your second letter indicates that unfortunately after the results of the lottery you were not chosen. As you know, most nursing schools in the state of California use the lottery system for admission. We always recommend that an applicant apply to more than one program. I hope you were successful in another selection.”


This still doesn’t make sense because they didn’t look at our TEAS before they ran the lottery...

I think they try to avoid our questions.

Yes, I don't think they planned on answering us. I decided to resend my email yesterday because it felt like they were avoiding people who had questions. I ended up emailing them back. I emailed them regarding what the brochure says and how the situation does not add up. Many of us were misled with those physical letters. My impression was Phase 3, turning our TEAS in and having them evaluated would then lead to Phase 4, the lottery itself. I understand COVID may have delayed the deadlines. It's just messed up that we were given false hope and continuing our education is a big deal.

I think the decision has already made. I don’t think we can do anything about it. ?

For everyone who received really conflicting responses & were ultimately rejected (myself included) due to this school's complete lack of communication with its applicants, I am so sorry. Luckily I didn't put my eggs all in one basket & was accepted into CSUEB's pre-licensure BSN program, but I still wanted clarification for my own self on whether I got into Merritt b/c it's a cheaper route to go. If it makes anyone feel better, my program is deferring our cohort & we will not be able to start until the fall of 2021.

Also, they're not correct in saying most schools use the lottery system. Pretty much all the ADN programs do, but the BSN programs usually use a point system. So unfortunate that they are willingly ignoring our questions about our own education. It makes me wonder how good of a program they really are if they can't even communicate with us b/c all it takes is a simple email saying they've been delayed or are making changes to the admissions process. Good luck to those who did get in, & I hope everything works out for you guys with everything happening.

Has anyone accepted admission already and want to make a group on facebook or instagram ? I’ve been talking to a student who’s about to finish the program and would like to compare everything’s we’ve been hearing ahahaha

I’ve accepted, but they told me to resend my TEAS yesterday. I am guessing they lost it. I’m just waiting for that confirmation email! What did they say in yours?

I would also like to know what the confirmation said, I submitted TEAS and the acceptance form Earlier in the week and have yet to hear back?

I would love to make a group for this purpose! It would be really helpful to have info from a firsthand student.

Did you reply to the acceptance email or did you send it seperately ?
