City College SF FALL 2020
Hi, so I was looking at a document for the 2020-2021 school year at CCSF. ( https://www.ccsf.edu/dam/Organizational_Assets/Department/Scheduling_Office/Academic_Calendar_2020-21_01-27-2020.pdf) I'm not sure if it was finalized. I was wondering if you guys think we would start on the 19th for Spring when looking at the schedule attached. I have something scheduled in January and didn't want the two events/dates to overlap.

Can anyone please explain how the ADN-BSN program would work with SFSU? How long is it? When would we apply? What are the criteria? Thanks!

I don't think we're allowed to say the names here because Allnurses tends to bleep them out. I'm assuming the emails are from the main admissions person for the nursing department. Not sure why they're sending their emails later at night... I got mine at 10:41 PM. It wouldn't hurt to ask them about the status! Also kind of wondering if they would move people up from Spring Semester if availability opens up due to people declining the fall...

I’m thinking they ranked 100 people and split the group already into 50-Fall; 50-Spring. As people decline people would be bumped up to Fall? Because last cycle they ranked the 100. Accepted the 50 for Spring and the other 50 were waitlist. I’m not sure if they have a 50 waitlist to fill in... I would assume so. Especially since they suggested this process would be 3 weeks? Waiting until June was already hard enough haha. Even more suspense when we feel like we should’ve heard news but haven’t yet.

Yes, they said communication will be sent to the ccsf email. You can always set up forwarding to your personal email if that helps! That's what I did.

I’m a little nervous..haven’t heard anything today yet..

Last time they didn’t send confirmation emails. I’m thinking they’ll send the initial acceptances and then allow people a week to accept/decline then go through the waitlist if there is one... I’m not sure if they are keeping one since this time they’re doing Fall and Spring admissions. I’m hoping there’s a good chance to get in! I feel like people might’ve accepted other colleges since CCSF is a little late with theirs. Good luck everyone and be safe :)

Yes, I don't think they planned on answering us. I decided to resend my email yesterday because it felt like they were avoiding people who had questions. I ended up emailing them back. I emailed them regarding what the brochure says and how the situation does not add up. Many of us were misled with those physical letters. My impression was Phase 3, turning our TEAS in and having them evaluated would then lead to Phase 4, the lottery itself. I understand COVID may have delayed the deadlines. It's just messed up that we were given false hope and continuing our education is a big deal.

This is what they emailed me this morning: “We have confirmed that you were sent the correct letters. The first letter states that you are eligible to continue in the application process. Your second letter indicates that unfortunately after the results of the lottery you were not chosen. As you know, most nursing schools in the state of California use the lottery system for admission. We always recommend that an applicant apply to more than one program. I hope you were successful in another selection.” This still doesn’t make sense because they didn’t look at our TEAS before they ran the lottery...

Personally, I feel like it's the principle of being open and honest with applicants. They didn't update us on anything. Maybe it's not right to compare, but other schools have updated their applicants in some form regarding delays and changes due to the pandemic. I also applied to CCSF and waiting to hear back from them. Unfortunately, I wasn't accepted into any of the other schools I applied to. So the shortcut Merritt took has affected my chances and I'm sure I am not the only one.
