Mercy Hospital College of Nurses LPN-RN Miami

Published

Creating this to give an insight into the process of applying to Mercy Hospital College of Nursing. I've attended the information session. I took the NLN entrance exam and got a 78% overall score. (73% is passing) I'm waiting to see whats the next step once the administrator sends the needed information. Let's see whats next.

Hello guys, I'm in the second semester now. It's a LITTLE easier than the first semester because I have one class at a time instead of 4 classes at once but it's still challenging. The semester is split into 3 classes: psych, maternal/newborn, pediatrics. Each class is about 6 weeks long.

I first started with Psych or mental health and that class is HARD. My best recommendation for that class is to read the book (you can rent it on amazon), read the outlines that is provided, and to do as much practice questions as possible. I also bought the book Psychiatric nursing made incredibly easy and that helped me alot. I got a B+ but it was EXTREMELY hard.

I have now moved onto Maternal/Newborn, I have my first test tomorrow but the information is the same (from when I learned it in LPN school) it's just reinforcing the information and more interventions as the RN role.

I'll update again once I reach the end of the semester. Let me know if there's any questions.

UPDATE ON SECOND SEMESTER

For Maternal/Newborn the class was great and the instructor is AMAZING such a kind and sweet instructor who wants the best for her students. She provides a review for her exams and for lecture it was interactive being that the notes were fill in the blank and as she would talk you had to fill in the blank for what was missing (it make it hard to fall asleep LOL) her exams are straight forward and to the point. Clinicals were great and grab any opportunity you can such as c-sections, vag birth, and ask the nurses question because many of them in maternity went through the program at mercy so they were helpful. I ended the class with a B+. For maternal/newborn I would recommend the book and the maternal success book. (rented on amazon) Now this was all before Covid-19 came and messed up everything but we did finish maternal/newborn right before we switched online for pediatrics. I took pediatrics online. It was nice and the instructor is amazing as well (never got to meet her in person). We had clinical case studies and lectures online. For this class I would recommend the book because the NURSING ALERTS are important and the pediatric success book as well. (rented on amazon) I ended the class with a A-. Hope this helps.

Hi nurses

I'm an LPN, been at it for five years and ready to transition to RN. Especially with all this Covid pandemic brewing. They need us ! I'm planning to apply to Mercy Hospital in Miami for the fall. They haven't opened up the I normative sessions or.posted a deadline. I'm preparing all my paperwork to turn in now. Just wanted to ask about the entrance exam. I'm trying to find the right study guides, I have a few I've been referred to. Is the NLN PN exam similar to the TEAS? I've been out.of school for a bit so trying to refresh as much as I can. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello, I also am interested in starting the application process. Any updates on the information sessions or deadlines?

Well I called today and was told the information sessions are not going on and that if you have any questions you can ask them over the phone and that counts as an information session. Which I find weird because I wasn't asked for my name. I did provide my email to be sent the link for online testing. Also she said the deadline for applications for the August program is July. Does anyone know what is on the ATI TEAS?

Specializes in MH, Substance Abuse, Surgical Stepdown, PACU.

Hey everyone,

THANK YOU for all the helpful information. It's really great to get the facts from the true sources, former students. I got an email yesterday with an aptitude test from the college. It was short and I finished in about 30 minutes. There were three parts. I called the College when I was done because there wasn't a follow up email or anything to the test. The lady I spoke to on the phone wouldn't give me dates for any deadlines and said I would get an email soon with everything I needed to know. She was very vagued and sounded like she didn't want to be bothered but that was all I got. Glad to hear from someone that they were told a deadline of July. I hope to be ready and all set for August, crossing my fingers. If anything else comes across my email I will be sure to pass it along here. Hope to see some of you soon.

How long did it take for you to receive the email with the test? Was the aptitude test the only one included? ------------------------ CCd ------------------------ on an email to send the test link but she hasn’t sent it yet.

Has anyone who completed the program attempted to pursue a BSN? I am just wondering if the credits from Mercy transfer. MDC requires regional accreditation and I did not see Mercy in the list from SACSCOC.

Is anyone looking to do the LPN Program at Miami Mercy? ?

Specializes in Nursing.

Did anyone here start the May cohort? If so how is it going?

Looking to apply to either this program or MDC bridge program. Has anyone had luck contacting the school to apply for the January program?

Inspiring!! Keep up the amazing hard work! ?
