Creating this to give an insight into the process of applying to Mercy Hospital College of Nursing. I've attended the information session. I took the NLN entrance exam and got a 78% overall score. (73% is passing) I'm waiting to see whats the next step once the administrator sends the needed information. Let's see whats next.

hey all, is mercy holding its lpn program this fall??????

any updates greatly appreciated!! ?

Hey all hope all is well and you all are staying safe during this time.

I just wanted to give an update for 3rd semester of the LPN-RN program at Mercy. I am halfway through and have 61 days left until graduation. (EXCITED!) Due to the 'rona everything has moved online but still have lots of work to do. There is lots of assignments that are required for this final semester to help you not only pass the class but prepare for the NCLEX. Assignments from quizzes, Kaplan videos, Kaplan reviews, Kaplan questions, clinical simulation, clinical paperwork, and the list goes on and on. It's a lot to manage sometimes but I try to complete as much assignments in a week so I don't become overwhelmed at the amount of work. The professor for this semester is awesome and very involved in student's success. The professor is very knowledgeable and want to see all student pass by being there day or night (REALLY AMAZING PROFESSOR). I'm not sure how graduation is going to happen either via virtual or in person (doubt it) but at this point graduating is all I want. I am currently doing at least 50 NCLEX questions a day via Saunders NCLEX-RN review and I do questions that correlate with what we are currently learning during lecture. I will be purchasing UWorld a couple days prior to graduation to start preparing for the NCLEX (I want to take the NCLEX the end of September). This semester is a lot of critical care/specialty information such as chest tube, burns, vents, etc. I hope this helps and I will update as hopefully reach the end of this program.

Stay safe!

So any word on what schools people pursue their BSN after completing their RN at Mercy?

There are a few schools that students in the past have suggested such as St. Thomas University in Miami its $6,000, UTA online which is about $8,000, (prices vary), FIU, FAU, and UCF. I do know that Mercy is having a RN-BSN program but it isn't accredited yet. Hope this helps.

I hope the RN to BSN get accreditation soon.

I am just crossing my fingers and praying to start this August.

Hi, is anyone starting in August here? I got an email back saying I got waitlisted and basically they’ll keep me posted, so bummed about this ?

Hey,

Oh noo!! Well wait listed is better than denied so think of it that way. I got the email this past week of acceptance and I still can't believe it. Feels so surreal. It's been 8 long years as an LPN and many other struggles but finally ready to get back on the ladder. Stay focused, later may actually be better. Orientation for this fall session is August 27 virtually. I don't know anything about clinical or dates or anything. The only thing I know is pharmacology is the first class and you have to pass with a 90. So im feeling nervous, excited and hopeful to join the circle of registered nurses. Good luck and keep your head up. It all happens when it's meant to. Either way. Im saving my stuff for you guys.

Hi,

Just wanted to provide an update. I had orientation via Zoom today.  It qas impressive and I got a really good feeling from the faculty. The presentation was great and they genuinely felt like they want you to succeed. Everything will online until December more than likely. There is another scheduled class to start in January tentatively. There is about 42 people in my class from what I could see. Classes for me will be Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays or for others its mondays , Wednesdays and Saturdays just to give you a guys a heads up on what the schedule looks like. They have a payment plan available or you can pay for tuition in one shot. There is no financial aid or you can take out student loans. All the professors have been at the school for almost ten to twenty years so they are pretty knowledgeable. They seem accessible and friendly. Hoping for the time to zip by and get through it all. Super nervous though. Hopefully I'll see some of you later on campus in 2021. Let me know if there is anything further I can help with.

Hello Guys, just wanted to give yall an update. I graduated from Mercy LPN to RN program this past Monday. It feels so great to be finally done and move on to the next step in my life. I know based on what I've been told is that there is some changes to third semester but for me classes were Monday 4pm-7pm and online clinical simulations were due Sundays. What I can say is that third semester is a lot of assignments are required and it may seem a little annoying but trust me all of the assignments are going to prepare you. I also just received my authorization to test to I am taking the NCLEX later this month. I am currently using UWorld to help me study and I like it so far. For any student who is starting Mercy or is think about it please do because Mercy is really unlike any other school. Mercy faculty and staff really care about you and want you to be successful. Also there is many employment opportunities either from Mercy or other HCA hospitals once you graduate. I know it may be a little different due to COVID but hopefully clinicals can resume so you can have the full experience. I am free to contact if you may have any quesitons. Wishing you guys all the best!
