Mens nursing shoes?

Nurses Men

I have been trying to find a decent pair of shoes to wear on the floor. My search is showing me plenty of options for women, but nothing for the male nurse. The shoes I have now are not agreeing with my back and feet!

What at kind of shoes do you guys recommend wearing for those long 12 hour shifts?

Not a dude...but I was having the same problem. I could not find a pair of shoes (nursey or otherwise) to handle my 12+ hour shifts of craziness! Then my mom bought a pair of running shoes that she didn't like and asked me if I wanted them since she couldn't return them. Little did I know these shoes were my feet love match! Brooks running shoes have been a God send. I still have to buy a new pair every 4-5 months but they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I come home from a long shift and my feet don't even hurt! It's amazing :) Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck!

I'm not telling you it's going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.

I buy running shoes like food I guess. i rotate between shoes depending on which night of the week it is.

night one is mizuno waverider 17

night two pearl Izumi em tri n1

night three brooks pureflow 3

then a mix and match of brooks pure connects, Nike lunar glides, new balance 1400's etc. I find a pair that works and is on sale I buy them. Rotating prolongs their life especially smell wise.

What kind of nursing do you do? If you aren't at risk for bodily fluids, then probably whatever running shoe breathes well and is comfortable. I work in an ICU and frequently need to Cavi-wipe my shoes off. Any footwear that will absorb fluids are MRSA-shoes otherwise.

I use these: Amazon.com: Sanita Men's Professional Cabrio Clog: Clogs And Mules Shoes: Clothing

I prefer running shoes personally. Usually rotate between 4 different pairs of shoes, and I try and buy dark colors for those unplanned splatters. I went to a dedicated running shoe shop and they did a great job of measuring my feet, looking at my stride, gait, and achilles and finding shoes that had good support. Currently:

Saucony Hurricane 15 & 16

Asics GT-2000 2 & 3

I am in nursing school and working as a clinical assistant on a med surg floor. I have from 9 to 14 patients in a 12 hour shift. I can do 20,000 steps in a normal shift cause I like to keep count and I did research because I have had 3 ankle reconstructions so I knew my feet could be an issue. Our clinical rotations at school are usually only about 7 hours and use Nike Shox in all white because they are super comfy but we have to use all white. I went to Fit 2 Run and they can analyze your gait and how you walk or run. I have 2 pairs that are great for long times on your feet and i have turned a few of the nurses on to them. Hoka One One is a running shoe that has a huge cushioned sole. They aren't the best looking but super comfy and your feet will thank you. They are pricey, in the $150 range. The other one is a pair of Asics GT-2000 3. Also very comfortable and supportive. They will help your back and your feet . May I also suggest using compression socks. I started wearing them last year during clinicals and noticed a big difference. Most of the nurses said they wear them and said they can feel a difference. It helps with your circulation. Try it and see what you think. Also the nurse on my floor said they usually spend around $150 to $200 on shoes because it does make a difference. most of them are wearing running shoes because of comfort.

Bates 8" ems/police boots. Very comfortable over 12 hours, side-zip closure, breathable, excellent ankle support, can run in them.

In the good old UK NHS we're still tied into archaic uniform policies so I've been told I no longer can wear my Adeba theater shoes as they are white with blue lining because the policy says they must be all black. Never mind the surgeons can wear what ever they want, never mind they are sully compliant with infection control stipulations.

Since the were falling apart anyway Ive now bought a great pair of Magnum shoes which are specifically designed for nurses and they are doing a bang up job so far.

I've also handed in my notice to go work in a midwifery led birth centre where I can wear what I like but the shoes are coming with me!!

I am a nursing student required to wear all white shoes. After finding a pair of Size 13 Pumas, I was in the search again for a really good shoe. As I am a Merrell fanatic, I found out they make the Merrell Encore nursing shoe. Slip on, comfortable, wonderful shoe. I found my size shoe on Sierra Trading Post's website. Can't beat it.

I'm not a guy, but I wear guys' merrells in black, non-nursing shoe. Lace-less, slip on, non-absorbent, and very comfortable. (I don't wear the women's variety because they have a lower back.)

I had the same issue, and I have to have some that are mostly white... I found these, and they don't look old mannish. They are ranked among the top shoes for male nurses. Good luck on your search!

I used to look at people who wore Crocs, and I would laugh. $500 later with sore feet and smelly running, basketball, and workout shoes, I decided to try Crocs. My feet don't hurt at all anymore. They have been a life saver. The Work Bistro Clog provides the best blend of comfort and protection. They have openings on the sides only, unlike other Crocs. Minimal sweating = no smelly shoes. Do Crocs look great? No, but I choose to have comfortable feet without pain after work over looking good. The Tummeler's are also pretty comfortably and look very professional.

Brooks adrenaline...I over pronate so I need the support...I dont run but went to a specialty running store...wish I had done it years ago
