I almost always have my Vanquish Envoy with me. Get's comments everywhere I go. Great messenger bag that can hold a lot. Plus one of the only bags I've found that has a top access zipper to avoid having to open the flap every time you need to get something out.
Definitely recommend this book. I had to take a skills test in reading EKGs in order to qualify for an interview in the ICU and reading this book beforehand was immensely helpful. I too just graduated in May with my BSN and just started in the SICU. Best of luck!
Ah, the good old Patho/Pharm courses. As a recent grad of an accelerated BSN program, flash cards worked the best for me. I purchased the app Mental Case for my Mac, iPhone, and iPad. I would type up all my flash cards and sync across all the devices and use it to study during any downtime I had available.
Just graduated at 27 and starting my first job in the SICU in 2 weeks. You definitely can do it. My grades were very similar to yours. Cumulative GPA was 3.25 going into a pretty competitive nursing program, and was placed on the alternate list until 1 month before classes started. Just don't give up and keep on digging and pushing toward your goals.
I prefer running shoes personally. Usually rotate between 4 different pairs of shoes, and I try and buy dark colors for those unplanned splatters. I went to a dedicated running shoe shop and they did a great job of measuring my feet, looking at my stride, gait, and achilles and finding shoes that had good support.
