Men intimidated by RN salary?

Published

I heard this the other day and I wanted to see what everyone thinks.

* Men that earn less $ than a RN are intimidated by them and do not want to date her.

* Or ,if they are not intimidated and try out the relationship it doesnt work out for financial reasons.

Who needs them anyway

It sounds like you, in turn, did some man a huge favor by not getting married.

I earn twice as much as my dh and it doesnt bother either of us. I wish he earned the same or more only because I could spend it LOL

Why do you need a flame proof suit

Are you feeling guilty

I am not the marrying kind. I love my freedom. I love my life. I love doing what I want, when I want, without seeking someones approval. Anyones approval.Works for me.

Personally, I'm marryin' a woman .... not her paycheck.

cheers,

PS: I've had one relationship not work out because she was 'conscious' about the fact that I made less than she did. I'm not complaining though - her loss. *shrug*

I could care less if men have their feelings hurt by an female RN making more than them...its about dang time women make more than men; we have been making $0.75 to their $1.00 for YEARS...

My wife and I are both LPN's and she make more than me. She has been an LPN 2 years longer than me.. Her base without O/T is $37k and mine is $33k.... With all the O/T I make about what she does... I wish she was an RN or that I was.. I personally want to go to med schoo.. But we have a small child and the $$ would be too much..

Women who earns a lot more than men, wanted to date someone who is greater than them. I don't think I'm intimidated, but I know a lot women thinks that way.

I have, sadly, found this to be the case a couple of times. I'm a modern girl, I'm more than happy to pay my own way no matter who makes more, in fact I get itchy if dude insists on paying all the time for everything. But I have had it happen that I want to do something on the expensive side and am MORE than happy to pay for the whole thing, if it's not feasible for him to split it, and he gets snippy about it. I don't give a hoot how much money mister man makes, but I also don't want to be limited in what I'm able to do for fun if he's uncomfortable with me paying for it. Then it turns into a whole thing where it's really about how he's unhappy with his job, his whole life, blah blah I thought I'd be a bazillionaire rock star by now... yawn. I'm not your mom, it's not my problem.

I have never heard of men being intimidated by a Rn's salary.

But I have heard and seen friends experience a man intimidated by their salary. Men or women who are intimidated by someone elses salary have other issues they need to work out.

My hubby makes more than me but when he heard I wanted to go back to school and get my RN he said..great! When do you finish, so I know when I can retire.

My best friend has a masters degree and working on her PhD. She works in molecular science. Her hubby is a high school drop out who works in an auto parts store. (its not a sugar momma type thing). For the most part, he isn't at all intimidated that she makes several times what he does. She never rubs it in his face. But there are the rare occasions when he does make a comment that he feels less of a man/husband because she makes the majority of the money.

Yea, I remember reading stories about men who felt intimidated by their wives/girlfriends that made more, that the "man" should be the money maker. But I think as women are becoming more and more noticed and higher on the work chain, I think men are becoming less intimidated. Like some of the others have posted, they're happy about it. I dated a guy where I made more money, and he didn't mind at all - in fact...he took advantage of it. Needless to say, we're not together anymore!

But a lot of men get intimidated easily anyway, by any number of problems. I listen to some of the young guys at work and about. There are a lot of things that intimidate them. I am a golf instructor part time. I can beat a lot of men on the golf course. They get intimidated by that. I run Marathons, I can outrun a lot of men, they can be intimidated by that. Not all of them are but a significant percentage are I would say. maybe it is something in this Texas water
