Men intimidated by RN salary?

Published

I heard this the other day and I wanted to see what everyone thinks.

* Men that earn less $ than a RN are intimidated by them and do not want to date her.

* Or ,if they are not intimidated and try out the relationship it doesnt work out for financial reasons.

I have personally found that many RN's have a really snobish attitude. That is why I woulndn't want to date them.

i'm sorry but you must not know many nurses

I don't know, I really am somewhat snobbish. I worked for it, I earned it, I totally have the right to be a snob, actually.

My Fiance and I joke around about my salary. He is slowly moving up in his company and I, as an RN, make a significant amount more than he does. He doesn't mind at all. He calls me his "sugar mama" (jokingly). He is proud of my accomplishments and encourages me.

I was working part time.

My husband didn't want me working, he wanted me to stay at home, but as he never seemed to have enough money I had to go out to work.

Then it was all my money paying for the household bills, including the childcare, but I wasn't allowed to go out with friends etc.

We've been divorced nearly twenty years - best day of my life.

Frankly,

If it ain't my husband, my salary is not their business. I will not be supporting a boyfriend even if we are living together. They will have to pull their own weight and I pull mine. I don't mind sharing the expense when dating. As a few have mentioned, if the man or women is jealous it has to do with their own insecurities. If you are unhappy about your job or salary then get out there and do whatevers necessary to improve your situation.

I watch way too much court TV, and believe me more than half of cases are women suing their EX boyfriends for loans and gifts they gave them during the relationship. :icon_roll

I don't think so. It didn't make any difference to my husband. I think the hours and shifts we work may be a bigger factor.
