Hi guys,
@jmolina1985 - my theory part of the course is done at MCIE in Melbourne CBD, depending on dates we may be in the city at the same time!
@mae_oz - yes that is correct IHNA do not tell you where the clinical placement will be until you start with them and also it could be anywhere in Victoria or even NSW, that was just too much uncertainty for me.
I chose not to go with Wimmera because the clinical placement time is a full 10 weeks and only 2 weeks theory. I prefer working and learning hands on rather than being in a classroom doing theory. A few providers I looked had up to 4 weeks theory.
So happy that this is finally happening!
hey hi were did u got your vaccinations? we are of same hosp here in sg right?
hi sorry, can't send you a msg im not in sg at the moment.i'm on leave.you can email me instead.here's my email add:[email protected]
hi official02, are Philippine passport holders allowed to apply online? i'm already compiling all the documents necessary so when the school gives me the coa it should be quick to pass at the embassy.please advise regarding online application for visitor visa subclass 600. thanks
-yes,Philippine passport holders can already apply online.you just need to create your own immig.account..
@mae: You better ask for assurance from ETEA that they won't be sending you outside the Melbourne network. Here's their response to my enquiry:
"6. Will there be inter-state assignments as part of the clinical placement?
***** Yes. But if you indicate your preference of clinical placement, we might give you the place that you want"
This tells me that they will take your preference into consideration but cannot guarantee just the same. ETEA's accommodation option is better at 175/week though.
IHNA is affiliated to St John if God here in Geelong. For a chance to be assigned here than elsewhere, I'd take it. I've also encountered people who've gone through the BP with them all with good results so that made me want to study with them. In the event I don't get SJoG, I suppose it's time for an adventure then :)
@Vicky: good on you that you found a school that matches your needs. My experience with working in the Market here tells me that I'll adjust just as well and that the basics are still the same as the PH. I need more time with Theory as I have been out of practice for nearly 3 years also, the theoretical part is where the difference is (I think). But to each his own. Are your accommodation options good? Don't go flying without that planned.
@jmolina1985 I browsed IHNA's website regarding the IRON program. It says 9 weeks only for the whole program duration. Is it true? While other school requires 12 weeks. Etea on the other hand, offers early exit as long as you complete the hours of placement. Anyway, I think what's important is that they are accredited by NMBA.
Hi mae_oz,
I was only on a holiday (visitor visa) when i lodged my application in 2014. I took the oet and passed the requirements at ahpra while onshore. I just thought putting the address in australia will make the process faster.
Tuition at etea is 12, 000, plus assessment fee of 150. It's my first option since location wise from my sister is only a bus ride, and they can give me clinical placement in melbourne.
Ihna is only my second option because of the clinical placement area. If and only if i wont be accepted at etea, jmolina and i will be classmates for the march 30 intake in ihna. :) so far still hopeful for march 11 intake in etea

@Vicky: congratulations! I am not sure if I will have the privilege of meeting you since Wimerra would be far plus I will be flying back to MNL on Feb to recoup before the BP.
@Jenxx: I am not saying that you shouldn't but the FAQ section stated that. In our case we had to produce these documents as no formal framework for Philippine nurses were set-up then.
@mae: 12 working days for me. I think ETEA's is about 11-12K$ IHNA $10600 plus free accommodation for the lecture part until April intake I was told. I didn't consider ACFE due to the pricing (would rather go elsewhere -- Deakin, La Trobe, Monash, or Mercy Health for their price range).
@aui24k: Hope to see you soon then! If you'll go with IHNA Melbourne for Mar 30, we would be classmates. :)
Ah, for those coming, be ready for a seasonal roller-coaster of 4 seasons in a day. As it is summer, I would pack light clothing and probably a light jacket to keep you warm when the seasons take a turn on March.
Cheers and good hunting!
