Does anyone know of a good site that I can learn better Spanish for nurses quickly and painlessly?

while i do agree that we should try to use english for the moderator to be able to view it, i also think that it might be beneficial if we can have a thread that deals with the issue of bilingual nursing. i work in florida and we are seeing a larger usage of spanish needed. maybe one of the moderators (wink, wink, smilingblueyes) can oversee it.
wonderful idea!!!
with the hispanic population growing everywhere in the united states, communicating with them has become an issue. it would be very benificial for us!!

true. or maybe an area designated where the ppl that are very much fluent in another language can help those learning it. (by this i mean, allowing us to post in another language with permission).
i agree that many don't speak another language and therefore it is rude to post in a language other than english. but also believe that there could possible be a designated area for those who wish to go there for assistance or just reacreational fun.
i would love to help others with their spanish :)

i think this is a great idea, perhaps a new forum could be created and maybe one of the spanish speaking mods (or more) could moderate it. This could be a very educational area of the BB. Maybe something Brian could think about?

I'm bilingual in Spanish/English and have a great deal of experience dealing with Spanish speaking patients. If any of you need any help in this arena please feel free to PM me or if it's ok to ask me on this forum, I will be more than happy to help out.

Re: a forum where spanish can be taught...............Great idea!
A couple of years ago I did a search online and found a pocket (actually 2 - one medical and one nursing) booklet w/ translations for medical and nursing phrases/questions/words. They have the phonetic pronunciations in addition to basic translations. The nursing booklets covers basic anatomical terms, pt complaints, pt orientation, basic examination, meds/IV, surgical prep, post-op instructions, elimination/clean catch phrases, hygiene, and labor and delivery sections. The medical booklet covers some of the same but also addresses abdominal disorders, allergy/breathing problems, burns/chest pains, diabetes/neuro disorders, OB/GYN, overdose/poisoning, seizures/trauma
They work for me. I ordered them through www.speedylanguage.com. They were $5 each but well worth the investment.

This is great. It is obvious that many would like an area for medical spanish

Can anyone recommend a CD to learn Spanish with? I learn much better when I can hear it spoken, and I could do this in the car. My spare time at home is pretty much taken up with studying for the prereqs I'm taking this quarter.

Even issues of bilingual nursing can still be in English, there are actually nurses from all over the world wishing to work in the US, and they owuld not be able to understand the forum................
I use Spanish everyday that I am at work..............but still think that this forum needs to be 100% in English as the TOS dictates.

I would be interested in Spanish Nursing. Did you order it online? I checked the site and didn't see the "secure lock" on the web page. I'm leary about giving out credit card info on the net.
Thanks,
Kris
