Yup, you pretty much have to get those legs going befor you quit! Sounds like you're well equipped with your study habits so will have this one well in hand! I hope you get your A!!hey guys. hit the ground running with micro this week-WOW! looks like theres lots of work ahead. the reading alone is intense. thank goodness i have a semester of nursing classes under my belt and some good study habits. i didnt know what hard was before n. school-LOL! hopefully i can get this class in the bag with at least a B, but want an A cuz I'm greedy like that! Gl everyone.
Oooo fun fun .. we did only 2 slides and had to sketch the different magnifications. We did so many slides...........will be preparing cultures next week, so that should be interesting.
Okay, the other thing is that they said that there would be NO slides on the lab final but tons of slides in lab. I suppose that means I have to lay in my brain all the different crazy names and results??
We only went over general slides this week for morphology and arrangement I thought is was fun. I'm not really worried about the bacteria, what's got me freaking out is the Bunson burner. I swear that thing will explode in a ball of fire everytime I try to light it, LOL.:D

Don't turn the gas handle all the way to full power, don't reach over the flame since it's invisible and keep that hair pulled back and you should be ok.
what worries me most is that we have to work produce an "Unknown" project which will be a great percentage of the lab grade, and we cannot engage help from the instructor or anyone..... I've heard horror stories about this and I am TERRIFIED of it

We are to look at every slide in the lab manual.......a lot of them. Sketch them in differet magnifications but most of all in oil immersion power. The slides will be in oil immersion for our practical.
No joke, my instructor (microbiologist) has a huge passion for the subject but the thing is that she also works at Yale..........you'd think we were in grad school.........lol

We also have the unknown project--kinda scary. I am not sure what to think about this class--looks HARD, but maybe it will be fun in some ways?
