MDE Columbia University 2021

Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

Does anyone know if Columbia sends out physical acceptance letters in the mail as well, or if the email is all?

I think we should assume that it will mostly be online since we're still in a pandemic and most people haven't been vaccinated ☹️. I'm not sure how much can change between now and like May/June.

I just spoke to a friend that just started a direct-entry program at UPenn this past year who said that her coursework was online, but clinical hours and labs were in-person. I imagine not much will change either.

Darn..I may have to reconsider my options then. Columbia is such an amazing school but I would not feel comfortable taking out all those loans just for online classes and not getting the full experience of the school.

Understandable! But I would take into consideration that ALL schools are in the same/similar situation... so anywhere you go at this point in time would offer there classes online for the safety of everyone ya know. So you may want to consider holding off until they start offering more classes in person, but that might not be until fall of next year? No one really knows you know.

Yes absolutely! However, I may try to save money and go to an in-state school. When things get better and schools are in person again I may apply to the DNP portion and get the whole Columbia New York experience!

I will be giving up my spot for the MDE program and going with my original choice. Never in a million years could I have pictured myself picking between programs. You guys got this. Good luck to everyone! Give 'em hell!

I am kicking myself for not applying to it. I am sure you will hear soon. Did you register for the admitted students activities? They give you a chance to submit a question ?
