MDC Spring 2012 :)

Published

Hi guys!

I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.

I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.

So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe

:nurse:

Hi MigMarvel

I recently applied for an Stanford Loan for the 2nd time. The 1st time they gave me like around $7000 total. This time they are supposed to give me around 8000 for this and the next semester. If you are interested in applying you should do it now because they only open for certain period of time and the applications are usually for 2 semesters. If you apply now you will be applying for this fall and next spring. You must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to be considered. If you are not currently enrolled in those 6 credits you can still apply now but they will only give you the loan for the spring.

I hope you can understand my explanation, sometimes think I explained things fine and then I realize I didn't lol.

Yisy so I'm not taking classes at this moment, but I'm hoping in attending the nursing program full time. I can start applying to loans now and which one would you recommend? ONLY Spring or FALL and SPRING I'm a newbie to loans I thought I could only apply once I'm in enrolled in my classes?

I really cannot tell you much because I'm not well informed on this subject. I applied to a Federal Student Loan. I don't know how this works if you are not enrolled at Miami Dade College yet. They always ask for your school information and it is the school who decides the amount of money they will give you. Also, when you apply is for 2 semesters, so it's fall and spring, even though you are not taking classes on the fall you should apply now and they will give you the money in the spring and for the spring only. To be sure you should call someone on financial aid because I'm not sure that everything I'm telling you is correct. I can give you the email and phone # of the loan coordinator at the North campus. If you are interested send me a Private message and I'll send the info to you. :)

I really hope I make it. I have a 3.2 gpa and a teas score of 78.7. Do yo guys think that that score is high enough?

Hi datboyd!

I do think you can make it. Even if you don't make it in the first cut, which I doubt, you would be one of the first ones to get chose in the 2nd cut. :)

Let's keep our hopes up!!! We'll make it!!! :D

Hi Yisy4U,

I have a question. What are you actually refering to when you state first cut and second cut.

How does the actual procedure of choosing between the candidates go.

I thought they would just choose the top 100 to 150 students based on their Teas scores and GPA.

I am extremely anxious to know if I got in.

Hi Neyla

When I say 1st cut I'm referring to those top 100-150 students with the best scores. However, many of these students won't be able to accept their seats because of financial aid, work schedule, personal problems, etc. Then the school has to do a second round and the students that were next on the list will get in. It all depends on how many students deffer their seats. :)

Ok, Thanks for the info.

I am so, so, hoping I get in in the first round.

I am dying of the stress of uncertainty, dont think I will make it till the second round but thanks for your post they calm me down.

Your Welcome! I'm glad to be of help!

Do you mind if I ask your scores?

I'm very confident that I will make it on the 1st round. That's why I'm not nervous, or stressed at all . I feel like I'm already in and it feels so good! :D lol

My science gpa is 3.8 and me Teas was 78.

No sure if these score are good enough.

The advisor stated last applicant pool the minimum Teas was 80 so I am not banking on getting in. But it all depends on the applicant pool this time around.

Your scores are good! I'm sure you will make it the 1st time. About what the adviser stated I don't think he/she was referring to the teas score alone, but to the total score. Last semester the 1st cut was around the 81.2 total score.

According to some advisers this time around the teas scores alone are a lot lower than last semester. So hopefully people with less scores will make it this time! :D

I really hope I do get in, in the 1st. I am counting on the Teas being lower for this pool, I know that when I took the Teas and the day I turned in the app most scores were way below mine. Most were in the 60s and people were turning in apps with those scores. Also according to the ATI print out my score was in the 87 percentile for the program. Meaning only 13 % were above my scores, and if about 1000 people applied 130 would get in before me, but I would fit in the next 20 avaialbe seats (assuming there was 1000 applicants, maybe there were less. The less the better my chances). If it fact 150 seats are avaialabe. But I am still not to sure how many students are actually admitted.:confused:
